New generations are supposed to be better than the last lol.

You are right, I don't own one. But I have seen enough of them at the local dealer to tell they are poorly built and it's a damn shame what Toyota is trying to charge for them. I'm not mad at the 4th get. I'm disappointed with Toyota. No vehicle that cost $50k should have piss poor body gaps. Look at any new colarado, canyon, ranger or frontier, they do not have these issues. So, what is Toyota doing better than its competition?

I've been buying tacomas for almost 8 years now. Never have I seen a new Tacoma with a 5k discount off msrp, especially up here in the northeast where tacomas typically fetch top dollar.

There is a reason why they aren't selling. Also let's hope their poor QC doesn't end up leaving people with engine issues like the tundra.

Probably because those "proven platform" owners are quick to bash the 4th gen. Go look at any thread on this forum and its the same clown "proven platform" owners repeating the same tired nonsense.

I got 6K off my 19 OR. Plenty of similar discounts can easily be found in the 3rd gen threads.

I agree there are some here who just bash and don’t talk about the good. I am still actively buying and will likely own one as someone who’s owned all gen’s for years now and like a lot of things about the new gen. But I also know it’s still unproven more complicated and as an active buyer researching have seen the issues popping up with QC early build quality. I’m a Toyota fan boy and taco nerd I’m hoping it doesn’t end up like the Tundra but verdict is still out and honestly everything is crap post pandemic.

Its all about expectations. Why expect Toyota, a company that now builds their cars/trucks and even engines in Mexico and southern US and sources parts globally, to be substantially better than domestic manufacturers that do exactly the same thing? The selling prices are high but will certainly come down as inventory builds and gotta-have it now buyers exit the market.

What many extra parts are added? You still have an exhaust manifold and downpipe, they just look slightly different and have a turbo mounted in the middle. You still have intake tubes, they just route a little different. You still have oil and coolant lines, they just route a little different. The only significant added parts are the turbo, a wastegate (typically internal on modern factory turbos) and an intercooler somewhere in the intake tract. In this particular case you lose half the engine complexity by having a single bank engine instead of a vee. Half the timing chains and components, half the camshafts, 1/3 fewer cylinder head valvetrain components, etc.

They aren't though. Thats the point. I don't see the same panel gap, paint issues from the other brands.

Agree, some people always equate newer with better but it's not always the case. I've owned both 1st and 2nd Gen Tacomas and personally I consider the 1st Gen to be superior over the 2nd Gen for the most part. So no, updated models are not always better.

Only time will tell but if everything else being built these days is any indication of the longterm quality and reliability of these trucks then I'm not holding my breath.

I'm not trashing the 4th Gens but we all know most things manufactured in the last few years have gone downhill in regards to quality and dependability, we also know Toyota is having some major issues with some of their other platforms rightnow so there's that to consider.

lol proven, I still have my third gen it’s a good truck, but I’m not gonna sit here like y’all and act like it doesn’t have issues and is the best Tacoma made. People bitched and moaned for years about the “proven” third gen and Toyota fixed the issues in this new truck.

All the people hating haven't spent more than a 15 min test drive in one if that, and now y'all are really trying to tell people how great a dollar general rib-eye is when the rest of use are eating us prime from Costco.

It’s still a mid size Toyota bro not even prime it’s the same dollar general with a fancy wrapper and some added flavor. And yes I had a 16, 17, 08 all the early year gens with small things. But I never saw the QC issues I’m seeing now. And issues were simple like whistling lower control arms and some leaking tail light gaskets. No one is saying the 3rd gen is the holy grail Tacoma but it can go 300k miles no issues with small easy to live with nuances. Verdict is still out on the new gen. We all have high hopes well at least most of us cause there’s a reason we all keep buying them. But we also should be critical using our pocket books as a voice and not blindly just buy whatever Toyota says is good.

No need to resort to ad hominem because my phone autocorrects words. I’m fully capable of having a discussion with you, but you seem to think you’re an authority on the matter.

I don’t have much experience with modern Nissan products , I'll grant you that. I’ll try get a lower credit score and a baby mama so I can get a better grasp on what Nissan has to offer.

Isn’t Nissan the company who had an executive try to sneak out of the country in luggage not too long ago?

All jest aside , my brother had those issues with his truck and I am the one who encouraged him to buy it . I’m salty about it as a result and whether you have heard of issues with a single vehicle or not doesn’t speak to the validity of those issues.

Might I suggest stopping by your local community college and taking an entry level statistics course for more understanding on what constitutes a trend.

By the way my 2019 Tacoma was a total lemon and I’m by no means a fanboy. I generally think Toyota mails it in and relies on the reliability of the 90s-00s models to sell modern vehicles.

Despite that, I just preferred the seats in the new Taco vs the competition. That’s all it really came down to for me since they all made huge strides in terms of improving the segment .

It perfectly describes my brother and every Nissan owner I’ve met. I have no remorse about it .

Also you’re the guy who was arguing that half ton v8s don’t have auto stop start earlier in the thread.

Saw you replied again stating that, and then walked it back and deleted your comment after realizing that you were wrong.

Deleting your comments to save face is cringe bro

    No I didn't lol.

You really do like making up facts to prove your weak points.

Looking down on people is cringe. 20 bucks says the bank owns your beloved overpriced 4th gen. Get off your high horse.

Don’t have a point , only facts that the v8 all have fuel saving systems like stop start/DOD which you claimed they did not. You are the one that is wrong and no amount of projection will change that.

You got me there , I do look down on people who don’t pay their bills on time and lenders like NMAC who prey on them.

I’ll post the title with the last five of the vin and the trucks vin sticker when the DMV gets it to me (only had the truck ~10 days. You can keep the $20 and just move on from this. If you hate the 4th gen so much why are you here commenting constantly ? Genuinely curious since you seem super happy with your truck and choice.
