(Installed) Ordered a truck cap

Called Action Truck cap this week and he first told me last he heard none were available, but he checked to see if there were updates. Apparently they started production this week. Ordered a A.R.E Contour IV. About 4 to 5 weeks wait time.

Called another dealer that sells Leer, same story, but 300$ more.

I'll post pics once I get it.

 

Truck cap arrived, getting installed in 2 days.

 

Snug top use to make it California is now being made in Mexico is also making caps. I was told by my dealer here that they are taking orders for their entry level cap, CAB HI.
Also LEER is taking orders as well now.

 

I called 2 local dealers, Action which is nationwide in Canada, they sell A.R.E. and their branded version from A.R.E., the other was a local company selling Leer. At the time, Action branded was cheaper and quicker. Leer was just getting ready and 400$ more.

No clue which one is best and I may never know.

 

Got it installed today.

 

That looks good! I must say, I am not really a fan of the new look but from the couple I’ve seen now the cap really changes the appearance for the better. In my eyes at least. I think it must have something to do with ‘hiding’ that cab spoiler or whatever it’s called. Makes for a much cleaner looking truck in my mind.

I agree. I ordered a Century topper on Monday.

 

It’s weird, I like the wing/spoiler/deflector thingy. Wish they had replicated it on the cap.

Like you said, we all have different eyes.

 

I don’t have a need for a cap, but that looks very nice!

 

I am right there with you, not sold on the look. I do agree though the cap makes a big difference in appearance for the better.

@Want-a-taco and I have the same cap, just US vs CAN versions. You can see a bit of the tailgate interface in my post here: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...ur-4th-gen-today.834072/page-13#post-29967715. Basically, there's a black section of the cap's rear window that hangs below the t handle(s) and completely covers, and is flush with, the black trim piece on the tailgate of an OR. If you have an OR, that black trim at the top of the tailgate is completely covered by the bottom of the cap's rear window.
