Success! After a couple of months trying to find unobtainable Dacavolo, I found cask 1 and 2 today!

All right now, need an official tasting verdict since the Hirsch crowd is so divided

It’s very good. Maple on the nose, fig and tobacco mixed in with the usual vanilla and caramel on the palate.

Edit: white pepper finish that lingers.

The wife and I spent time in Austin a few months ago, considering the idea of re-locating. Downtown Austin is such a horrid fuckstain on humanity, that we pushed out to Steiner Ranch, and loved it! As the wind blows, we are going to stay in CO. I looked in several Round Rock liquor stores and couldn't find Still Austin, so I brought back some TX whiskey. Which...is shit, and not even worth my bringing it back in the suitcase. Alas, I hear great things about these cask strength Still Austin's, and can't wait till Saturday!

Neck pour. Gifted to me a few weeks back. Such an underrated pour. Delicious and easy to find. Great mouth feel and an amazing nose. Cheers

I just used a bottle of this in a blend of "poor mans pappy". I agree, it stands on its own.

I asked to slam dunk my bottle but the wax vats were so shallow I couldn't get the bottle deep enough to dunk it like that.

That's a good value bottle. If you haven't tried their cask strength 46, I highly recommend it.

Agree, the French oak 46 can be hit or miss for people. It's growing on me. Can even do a 50/50 mix

Yep, been ordering with them for years. As opposed to many online retailers, they actually deliver in a reasonable amount of time...and they actually have it in stock if they post it. They tend to run a little pricey on popular items. Their specials are pretty decent and they carry a lot of items that you can't get in states that don't have agreements with the distillers...like Dettling.

I had a lot of questions about that on my tour. The label reads that they wanted more bitter taste but they said the goal was no bitter taste at all in person. I also questioned why they redid the label from white to red. I enjoyed the pours of the newer red label but the white label I have doesn't taste the same. It has grown on me a bit but still an odd decision with the labeling and description from bill jr. on the desired outcome
