Does the four banger sound like a Corolla?

It took some time to adjust to a six cylinder. Does the 2024 Tacoma four cylinder sound like a Corolla?

 

I don't say this in a bad way but it sounds like a tractor. The turbo noise is very loud so it won't sound anything like a corolla. I think it sounds fine - people like to pretend that the 2grfks sounds great when it really doesn't. Take off the muffler and it sounds worse than a VQ. The 4th gen 4cyl is fine

They sound like a tractor. The closest comparison would be a Cummins diesel with the tractor sound and turbos.

 

I think I will keep my 2023 I don’t think I will like a truck that sounds like a tractor lol.

It was a mistake when Toyota went to a four cylinder that’s why I didn’t wait for the 2024 and went ahead and purchased my 2023.

 

The 3rd gen taco sounds like a minivan. Pick your poison

 

I had rather drive a minivan than a tractor. My V6 Tacoma has a great sound, sounds nothing like a minivan.

They sound decent with the stock or trd exhaust, once you start adding aftermarket cat backs it sounds worse than a straight piped 350z. It's awful

I’m sure it’s a nice truck it’s a Tacoma I’m just not ready to go four cylinder yet. For all you guys that has purchased one by no means am I trying to criticize it, it’s just not for me who knows what the future will bring cause from my understanding Toyota is not going back to the V6.

 

I prefer my v6 while I wish it was a 8 … I’m glad I don’t have the 4cyl not a fan .

 

Wish it sounded like a Corolla GR.

People pick the weirdest stuff to get obsessed with. I owned lots of cars and trucks in my life. I don’t think I could really describe the sound of any of them. They just sound like cars and trucks.

 

There is nothing like the sound of a big block Chevy with a high lift cam hitting a lick. If you ever hear that sound you will know the difference in engine sounds.

 

Yes, Its kinda weird. Outside the truck and at idle it sounds like a diesel, but inside the cabin when accelerating it definitely sounds like a a normal 4cyl engine.

Personally I like the electric motor whine of my Rav ... (the external pedestrian safety sound is annoying, though).
