That’s the key. The price for a new midsize truck is ABSURD. Add in crazy interest rates and it pretty clear why these things aren’t selling. Toyota seems to have forgotten that everything is more expensive right now and a brand new truck is a luxury item, not a need. When the average rent around major cities is $1,500 to $2,000 a month, people aren’t going to then turn around and finance a truck for $1,000 a month. It actually gives me hope that the average American isn’t as financially irresponsible across the board as corporations think.
Hopefully this means they’ll cut prices….

I think alot of people rushed out to get a new 23 at beginning of last year since it was last of model generation run- probably the most reliable. My local dealer has a few 24s sitting on the lot though, kinda surprising.

Not that it's a good thing outside of selling more vehicles. The recent storms across the country have totaled lots of vehicles, that will need replacing.

I thought maybe a pre sold backlog from prior months. I also didn’t know until now that would have been a record. Live and learn.

Napkin math says it's not far off:

    20.5k sold @ 40k each = $820,000,000
    17k sold @ a 15% price increase = $782,000,000

This is all just speculation since no one knows the true average sale price. It's also a massively oversimplified statement since it doesn't account for any other factors.

But I don't think Toyota is hurting

Toyota will hurt with the Tundra engine failure recalls.

If they have problems with that engine in the new GX 550, then shit will really hit the fan. Saw my first GX 550 in the wild this morning.
