In other news my oldest has taken his first real solo trip.

He left for Minneapolis (about 4 hours away) this morning to go to a concert tonight, is staying overnight and driving home tomorrow.

    They grow up so fast.

I mowed yesterday, today I went down town Nashville. It's CMA week and the Opry held a rare Opry country classics show at the Ryman. It was a good show hosted by Larry from the Gatlin brothers.

The Ryman is a pretty cool little venue. Still has that old church vibe.

All this good stuff and all's I got to do was clean and organize the garage and made a dump run so @StayinStock can dumpster dive to find some real good prize box goodies.

So true. When my kid was in college it seemed like he was only there for a few months, now he won't even loan me any money for gas and snacks.

Somehow mine is planning on graduating next year. For those keeping score at home, that's a 4 year degree in 3 years.

I swear he can't be mine.
We keep telling him that he needs to get a good job so he can buy us a house on Maui. Hey, a guy can hope!

    Alright...
For a bonus I will include other little things I did in the past few weeks.
First, here is the legendary hedge trimmer. Notice the blades?
    20240608_195257.jpg
Last week, we took my 5 yo granddaughter to see my son and his wife up near Pittsburgh. My wife wanted me to cut a board that my granddaughter could use across her booster seat as a tray. I decided that I would teach her a few things along the trip as well.
    20240530_214300.jpg
Don't judge. That is freehand in like 20 minutes. She now knows the states, how to spell them and all the listed features along the way!
Next, we have been grilling a lot lately and my wife wanted to know if we had anything that could flatten the patty when it goes on the grille. I dug around in a seldom used drawer of one of my toolboxes. I found a dolly I made when I was 16, or 45 years ago. It is one inch plate, torch cut and a piece of pipe tacked on as a handle. I cleaned it up, put some high temp paint on it and *boom* we have a hamburger patty flattener.

This is what I do when I have no big projects. I relax and do stuff.

We were just commenting how nice the weather’s been up here with triple digits elsewhere. I’m sure we’ll pay for it later but high 60s, low 70s is perfect summer temps for us.

Kinda related, saw a story on what’s considered ‘dangerous temps’- when heat stress can be fatal for over 65 years of age- they’ve always said 95F with 100% humidity but a study shows it could be lower like around 87% at 100%.

Be careful out there folks, check on the old people in your life.

Good morning and I hope you have a pleasant Sunday :hattip:
