I'm in the process of installing an LCE header on my '09 Taco 4 cyl. There is no bosses for a heat shield. Do guys run without? How are underhood temps? Can you wrap them? TIA Cheers, Dave

Ha! Just read that. Thanks man. Hopefully underhood temps won't be too bad

I installed this LCE 2TR-FE header 10 years ago. I installed this because I needed to see if it was true or not and I was leaning towards it being a waste of moolah. I remember hearing the different exhaust tone. Only the header was part of the mod. The rest I kept stock as I did not want to lose bottom end.
I remember driving out of the alley and shifted to 2nd and could not believe the pull. I then went to a hill where I always had to shift down,as it was a slow road incline, but this time I lugged it down in 3rd and hit the gas. I was really surprised as it accelerated.
I love it 10 years later. Where I used to shift to 4th on certain hills, I now leave it in high with no problems. Pulling my 1000 lb utility trailer with a quad in it became a completely different vehicle. Releasing the clutch off idle was a new thing now. All my shift points dropped in rpm’s.
I do have the factory intake tube wrapped with hot water tank wrap to keep incoming air cooler. My Scanguage proved that.
