Finished my regear to 5.29s. Initial drive felt really good. 480 more miles of break-in to go. Also don't buy a harbor freight creeper if you're 190 lbs or more, it will bottom out lol.Resized_20240608_150934_1717902541115.jpg

Surprisingly, I didn't. But I did just order a wrench because it was an absolute pain to get it off.

Hit 14k (yes I missed it) yesterday on a trip out to meet my friend with a Voodoo Blue 4R to go trail riding. Earlier in the week I installed the new airLYNX from Apex Designs - essentially an air shock for the front sway bar end links, fill with air for road driving, air down for off roading - supposedly allows for 50% additional front flex. Seemed to do pretty well off-road yesterday! Apex also makes a full disconnect that requires a bit of fab work to install, allows for 80% disconnect, this likely fits my truck and I a bit better and is quite a bit cheaper as well! You use one of those mountain bike air shock pumps with a no loss fitting since the air shock has such a small volume it can hold, it would lose most of it's air from the normal air pop when you remove an air chuck. They recommend 150psi min for road driving, 300 psi max, and 0psi for off-road.

    Link for airLYNX

I put together an install video on instagram if anyone's curious to watch, super simple install, just need to wrangle with the sway bar a bit. Feel free to give me a follow there, I'm much better at posting content on there lol. Install video

Some pics from yesterday and the airLYNX on as well!

I'm guessing here and if I'm wrong I apologize. I think the implication is if your OEM composite filter housing didn't break, why are you replacing it with the cast aluminum housing? Peace and Love,

With the windows rolled down a little bit lately, I noticed these noises, and thus I'm tired of all the clunking. Ordered these Bolts to eliminate that. Should be able to install this coming weekend.

    preventative.

though i've found when changing my own oil, the old method of wiping some old oil on the new seals usually makes it go on/off extremely easy, with no risk to the composite housing. i suspect that the lack of pre-oiling the o-rings is what gets a lot of people into trouble with the composite filter. that and over-tightening is extremely easy to do-- the o-ring only needs to be seated, not torqued, to seal properly.

i have an aluminum housing after all the teeth chattering around here, but i'm honestly only swapping between two composite filter housings. easier/faster cleanup to do it this way.

Washed it and cleaned up the inside.

There's been so much pollen this year, washing it would have been a waste of time. My truck was pretty filthy and it won't get washed again for a while. I've come to grips with the fact that black paint wasn't meant to look good and even shortly after a wash and wax it looks dirty.

Kept it back and away as I dropped a few trees. Only took a pic to see if a buddy with a sawmill wanted the trunks and noticed my20240609_125102.jpg truck in the background.

I’ve been looking at some sway bar disconnect option but the cost is very prohibitive for me, these make it most more reasonable. Did you like using them?

That was the same boat I was in, I don't wheel hard enough to remove mine fully and Apex's fancier kit was a bit on the pricier side (well for something I don't need anyways LOL).

They're super easy to use, the valve stem caps they include have a protrusion on the end like a nipple, so just remove the valve stem cap, flip it 180 and push it into the schrader valve to release the air. The truck could honestly could be driven with them at 0psi if you don't care about the body roll, but I like having the option. Honestly the biggest "pain" is just reaching up under there to pump them back up with the small hand pump, but I'm really reaching here. If you turn your wheels, you can access them quite a lot better. It's not like the front is going to flex like crazy with them, but you can definitely feel the front being less stiff off-road and wanting to articulate more. It's a very nice OEM+ option in my opinion and worth the small pain of climbing under there if you want to retain factory road manners and get some disconnect benefits off-road.

Skip to 5:15 on this video and this shows the airing up and down process. Toyota airLYNX Install Video

Did a drain and fill on my transmission, only got 1.25 quarts to come out so lot of effort (dropping my skids) to change like 10% of the fluid
