    Howdy Folks.

I'm Ed from Peeples Valley, AZ and yeah, after several Ford diversions for the past 10 years or so, I just purchased a 2016 Sport. My last, (before the Ford diversions) was a 2003 TRD, and before then an 01' Limited 4x4, then 9 Toyota P/Us before then going all the way back to a 1984 4x4, then to an 87' 4x4 "XTra" cab.

Here's what I will tell you... The new ones are not like the older ones in both good and not so good ways. The older trucks were like mini-tanks that were virtually impossible to break, and the 22RE was an absolute bulletproof motor by every sense of the word.

Great gas mileage, would climb anything, 250,000 miles was very typical without issues.
With that said, the ride would induce prostate issues, all of the environmental noises outside... were essentially inside, 70 was the top speed @ 4000rpm, and passing was performed while praying.

Yes, the 2016 is quiet, incredibly comfortable, performs beyond any reasonable expectations, all of that good stuff... But for some reason, my confidence level is not the same as it would normally be, driving a Toyota P/U. However, my time with Fords has been like shaving my head with a cheese grater. If you want to drive a Ford truck every day, you'd better have two.

I'm an Antique. My back-up cam used to be a rear view mirror. My TPS used to be a TPG (Tire Pressure gauge), My GPS used to be an MAP. I don't need Chimes, alarms, CELs, or my dash to light-up warning that my RH rear TP is 2lbs. low.

What a grouchy old Son of a Bitch Huh? :>) Not really.

    I had:
81, 87, 88, 93 - all 4x4’s. The 81 was my 1st true love; 88 sr5 xtra cab did San Jose to Carlsbad on one tank of gas; the 93 …I was rock star the second I drove it off the lot (blue stickers on white sr5 v6) I still kick myself in the ass for giving it up, was my last 4x4 until this passed April. I've since driven at least two model years of the gen1, 2 and 3 Tacoma's.

-with that 84 you got experience the front straight axle …fun stuff.

    welcome aboard!

LOL, my 87 was a White Xtra cab SR5 with Light Blue & Gray stripes.

Yeah... I consider selling that truck another not-so-smart event in my life, although I do remember
that when the A/C compressor used to cycle in that truck, it was like you just hit a 70mph headwind...

LOL no a/c in my trucks until the 93 v6. Before that it was the manual window levers, and if it got really hot outside I actually turned on the heaters. Yeah, those were days.
