Brake calipler ?

    2016 TRD 3.5.
    when starting the truck i first push on brake and seems like it is going down further than usual, at least 1/2 way. After starting it does not go down as far but still seems still like a little too much.
    Question is, if pads are worn do they retreat back into to the caliper all the way? If so that would account for the pedal travel but if they just back off slightly then something else. brake fluid does not change, stays at full.
