    Hey everyone,
I'm finally a new owner of a 2012 Tacoma 4x4 Access Cab and I had it up on the lift with a friend with the intent of doing the front brakes so it will pass the safety inspection.

I noticed the CV boot is torn on one side and I think I'm going to just get it all done at once while I have it on the lift and just clean everything up.

My question is: What else should I do "while I'm in there".

Bearings and everything seem fine but the truck does have 330,000km on it and I really don't know what the previous owner did. Truck is extremely clean and appears to be taken care of, but I'm wondering if I should just bite the bullet and replace bearings and stuff anyways.

    Suggestions?

My last truck was a Prerunner and I didn't have 4x4, so I don't know what seals I should replace or whatnot. Thought maybe you guys could give me some advice of what I should replace vs reuse.
I guess I'm asking if I replace the bearings what else should I be ordering with em? (seals/clips etc)

    Thanks everyone!
Stoked to finally be in the 2nd gen forums now (no more 1st gen posts for me!)

    minor tweaks
I'd get a good look at the serpentine belt, even take it off so you can determine the condition of your idler pulleys, there's 3 stationary pulleys and one on the tensioner. If it's not been done already it's likely due with that mileage. While it's on the lift check the rear driveshaft for excessive up and down play in the carrier bearing area. Pump some grease into all the u-joints and see if rusty crap gets pushed out, if so plan on replacing those sooner then later and I'd strongly suggest replacing the carrier bearing if the drive shaft has to come apart for U-joints. Those are all wear items that typically need replaced sometime past 100K mi.

Establish YOUR maintenace base-line starting with changing the oil. Expand from there onto axle fluid, coolant, etc.. YOU will know exactly what has been done.

I did all this yesterday :) Usually do it all whenever I get a new vehicle.
Checked the driveshaft and greased all the ujoints, although that looks recently done as well.

Just a small nick in a CV boot (still full of grease) and but just a pinsized hole that squirts out some grease.
This was my main reason for doing all the front brakes at the same time (going with the larger 4runner calipers just because :D)

I didn't check the pulleys though that ridefreak suggested, so I'll do that too.

    Thanks guys!

Check the ball joints. Upper especially is hard to check until you pull a few parts off around it.
