Shop Time w/T.W. Friends

Out the door at 4 am to deliver Mrs Green to work.

Found a fuel pump - 45 miles away.


Had pizza special lunch at The Club to fortify myself for the task ahead.

Well now, lookie here - an access panel behind the back seat...

I really don't want to work on anything however this isn't a bad car to work on.
The Subaru engineers were pretty helpful.



Have I mentioned we live on a dirt road?



A bit of work with a vacuum & paint brush cleaned things up - my little tester is a piezo buzzer from Radio Shack (remember RS ?? ) with 2 clips.
Makes it easy to test for power when you can't see a light.



Buzzer works with the key therefore the pump is bad - wonder why, it is only 28 years old...

And out on the outdoor work bench - truck tailgate.



Swapping the pump was easy enough, now turn the key and...

...wait for it...

.



$142 and back on the road!

That's gotta feel pretty good Rusty to get wifey back up and rolling. I was gonna say I give it a couple days this morning but had a feeling you were getting it done today come hell or high water. Good stuff

 

Ice cream cake later.

 

Gotta teach the kids how to butcher snd cook critters somehow.

 

I am very thankful for the way everything worked out.


This whole situation could have been much less convenient.

She was close to home and it quit in a huge parking lot, we were able to get a trailer quickly, the part was in stock and it wasn't raining.

This is the first time in 9 years and 90,000 miles that this car has ever quit on her. I paid $1900 for it, awesome car.
I'm calling it a win.

 

The Vega looked great though.
