Beer would be nice about now. I'm settling for coffee at the moment though. I've adopted the "what's the worst they can do" mentality right now too. I don't like that to be my mantra but right now it helps deal with the stress. I really just want to support these people well and it's a lot of my own pressure because I don't feel I can do that yet. I really doubt they'd let me go anyway, I'm not so worried about that. They know what they've heaped on me and they know how they did it. I doubt they could hire again in another month anyway and even then they know that may not payoff either. I'm using that as a basis for essentially demanding a grace period. It's a workload beyond what was explained at the interviews and it has no tribal knowledge... so there has to be learning time allotted.

Man we have some close friends that both got let go from tesla during their big change. Pretty wild times for them, they're planning totake a full year off to travel, im jealous, but i know i would be panicking to get employed asap even with a decent severance package like they are getting.

Well for me, that's what I might do if things don't get better. Sell my car, truck, most my possessions and travel the country for 6mo to a year. The off ramp to that is a bit shaky but I am fortunate to have a house in AZ and WA I could stay at to get a job and get back into the working world. Doesn't sound all that bad really.

I've always wanted to travel for a good long time. Unfortunately these days I'd at least need a lot of gas money still and I don't think I'd fetch much working the street corner.

My first job in programming was in a job that nobody with experience would touch. It was a big old banking system written in IBM system 370 assembler language. The data was in a bizarre format used to conserve disk space. Dates were packed into a 7-4-5 bit format and represented as A4D6 for a yymmdd date. I thought I had lost my mind for the first 4 to 6 months. I was stressed out every day when I went home. It turned out that was about the best thing that could have happened to me. I became proficient at reading core dumps and developed a great understanding of machine language. That put me in with the development elites at the time. It also let me solve some terrible problems that I would inherit over the next 10 years at work. Looking back my salary tripled in roughly 3 years. I got to travel and work where I wanted.

Sometimes an incredibly hard assignment makes you strong and opens doors to amazing opportunities. Don't give up. You can do it.

I've been really good at trimming the tops of my ludwigia, but had left leaves that were on their last legs

Dying leaves paired with increased light exposure (being out of town every weekend) with no co2 (I only run co2 if I'll be at home to turn on/off) left some string algae growing

Decided to just yank the ludwigia all out and propogate my other plants which worked out nicely
