Toyota trucks run in the family. My grandpa had a 1989 Toyota truck which he passed down to my dad who still has it. I bought a 2000 Tacoma new from dealer, and sold it in 2017 and have regretted that decision every day since then. Rectifying that problem now by buying a 1999 Tacoma, which as of today is on a trailer being transported to my house. Can't wait to get behind the wheel again.

The incoming truck is a 2 door access cab SR5, V6 3.4, manual transmission. 3" lift with 31" mud tires. Clean frame. Some dings on the body here and there, and the imperial green paint is very badly faded. Check engine light is on with o2 sensor codes thrown. My initial plans are to do something about the faded paint, replace all the exterior lights, and replace the o2 sensor(s).

This will hopefully be my forever truck and I will spend whatever I have to spend to make it look nice and keep it running well. I've gotten a lot of helpful information from this forum already and figured I may as well create an account and say hello and thank everyone who has shared their information in the past. I hope to contribute as well once I get started working on my new taco.

P.S. I didn't see where to enter my location, but I'm in DFW.

Random stuff. Oh! and converted to non ADD 4x4.
Welcome back. Don’t replace the O2 sensors. Sensors give a reading in regards of air/fuel mixture. They are telling you something. Before you replace sensors check their resistance. If they are within parameters then they are good. You’ll need a multimeter and the FSM for you to know the numbers to expect. Cheers!

Congrats! Make sure you spray some fluid film or equivalent inside the frame….these things rust out from the inside out. It’s what happened to my 2001.

Thanks for that reminder. I did read a few threads in this forum about rust prevention and I do plan to do something preventative. Being in North Texas, we have a pretty dry climate and no salted roads, but I am not taking any chances.
