I think the water gets in under the plastic trim rail. I am hauling 12 bags of salt for some winter weight, (traction if ever needed). I use a collapsable pet pool to prevent any melting snow from entering the situation.

The Leer cap on my son’s 23 OR long bed leaks something awful. I bought a waterproof king size mattress storage bag. We leave the bag in the bed and fill it with whatever he is carrying for a film shoot, zip it closed and everything stays dry. Basically it’s a fitted blue tarp that zips closed.
