Living in South Texas, rust isn't really an issue unless you live along the coastal areas. That being said, should I still apply woolwax or fluidfilm? What about the ac drain mod for 2nd gens? (I usually see the ac drain mod being applied to 3rd gens only).

Here, other variables will remove a car from the road before rust ever will. It isn't even an inspection item as far I know.

Both probably are wise to do, especially the latter. I really need to do the drain mod on my 2010..which is a general issue.

I looked under mine more closely since my last post in this thread and I barely see any rust on the frame (inside or outside). I even used an endoscope camera to examine the inside condition of the frames.

The only area where there was some very minor surface rust was probably related to that stupid a/c drain but I will be addressing that asap. You just don't see it or notice it before because it is covered by a rubber flap.

I would think, if anything, you could apply every few years versus every cold season the way it is done in the rust states. Most of them creep, so even though it might look washed out, there will still be just enough over a couple/few years, versus salt states where the coating has to be pretty heavy to deal with the extra electro-activity that salt creates.

That, or most average bears probly are never working on the truck so it's never a look to them.

I want to say the reco is 20K miles or every 2 yrs, but I could be very wrong. I'm in a cold state so I just get it done yearly now, cheap insurance.
