I agree, one would hope. But to often it doesn't play out that way in the real world.

Many think that if they can make the payment, that means they can afford it. But we both know that's not how it works..........

Education doesn't always include practical matters. Personal finance being one. And if one doesn't have good role models (parents, friends, coworkers, etc) to discuss and learn from, they really miss out.

like...

when i calculate my net worth, should i factor taxes on my 401k and if so, what rate should i use?
should i factor market gains when i put that 401k on to my balance sheet.?
should i even refer to my net worth statement as a balance sheet?
should i put my credit card balance as a liability or a contra cash account since i carry no balance?

i have more, but these are my most pressing questions
