did you find that the Fram filter did not sit in the same way that the TRD one did?

Then how come they are largest selling filters worldwide? Granted I do use the top of the line Fram but depending how lazy I am often NAPA one they are closer.

I wouldn't say that's a reason to buy them. GM sells the most vehicles in America and they're almost exclusively hot garbage. The higher end Fram stuff is decent, their average to lower end offerings are the problem. I play it safe and go with OEM or Wix for my oil filters. Fram is fine for cabin air:thumbsup:

Fram is okay, just get OEM. You should only need to change it every couple of years or so.

I didn't change mine for 8 years, still looked fairly new. Your mileage may vary.

The outside of a filter doesn't tell you much!

Yeah, it sits in there but hangs over a little bit on the the wheel end and the doesn't seat flushed with the the lid. Has a full seal though.
Just gonna get a new one I think, to be safe :)

Apple sells alot of iphones from their advertising. They have brainwashed the world thinking they are the innovators when they are not.

    Stick with oem

I purchased the TRD washable filter for $57 from my local dealer. It was cheaper than the $79 K&N Filter. Fit is perfect.

ya it looks like it came with one when I bought it. I put a paper one back in for now while i learn all this fun new stuff.
but damn this one i took out looks so dirty. it almost looks like there is tar on it.
I drove the thing maybe 13000km since i got it. Assuming it was cleaned then. but maybe it wasnt.
    I took some photos.
Does this look like 13k km or more like 30?

Will a cleaning Kit be able to restore this?

K&N kit will work fine. Be careful and don't over oil it.

Save the filter in it. Buy a lifetime AFE dry filter and cleaner spray. When it is time to clean it you put the original in for a couple of days while the new one dries. In a few hot years you’ll be money ahead. I run Castrol Edge 0-20 and after 10k miles it is still a nice shade of caramel. YMMV

OEM or Wix or Purolator. I wouldn’t put a Fram in my ex wife’s car.

Rock Auto. Denso OEM filter $12 plus shipping. Buy all your vehicle filters at one time and buy in duplicate or triplicate to justify the shipping cost.

Carry spare filters in the truck. You never know what kind of debris you are going to run into on the road. In a construction zone on i95 I hit a patch of clay that absolutely annihilated my engine filter.

Stock wheels and suspension. Random "utilitarian" mods featured on this great forum.
That's what I got but off of Amazon. Other than the color of paper filter element, it looked and worked exactly as the OEM one that came with the truck.
