My check engine light came on again and it says its a charcoal canister issue- Fuel evap system.
I replaced the gas cap the first time it came on and it came back on. No auto parts stores here in Spokane wa sell them. It is a tube with a plug at the top and 2 vacuum lines coming off of it.

Has anyone heard of this problem or know where it is located on the truck?

But anyway. Has anyone ever tried cutting open an evap canister & dumping out the old activated charcoal, then putting in fresh activated charcoal & plastic-welding it shut again?

Or any similar attempt to "rebuild" an evap canister?

They fail from leaking. That's what causes the CEL to come on.
The charcoal doesn't do anything as far as the truck is concerned.
The CEL comes on because the system can't maintain a vacuum in the active test.
If it can't maintain a vacuum, it flags the system for a leak.

The EPA doesn't want "raw" fuel vapor leaking out.
They want you to send that vapor into the intake and burn it when the engine is running.
