Looking to do a house battery in my bed (have an Alu-cab Canopy). Was looking at LiFePO4 batteries but I know they do not stand up to the heat in the engine compartment - but what about in the bed? It gets hot back there also parked in the sun.

What are you guys in the desert using for house batteries? AGM or LiFePO4?

A battery box with insulated top & sides (bottom open or uninsulated) mounted straight to the bed floor shouldn't let the battery rise much above outside ambient temperature.

As for battery type, I've always used lead-acid (both AGM and flooded types where appropriate) with good results. AGM has better vibration resistance, so I would suggest that if it's going to be bed-mounted.
Lithium units also have issues when its cold out (under 32°F). Keep that mind if it gets cold where you are during the other half of the year.

I've always used AGMs in my RV also and they have lasted a long time and done well, however, I was hoping to use LiFePO4 to reduce weight if it was feasible but it does seem like the operating temps are not optimal for the hot summers (115) and then hunting in the winter (17).
