Maybe if I show this thread to my wife she’ll understand opening up the truck budget a bit more

    Ugh. Fine.

One overpriced and way over-modded 2WD.
    One camp trailer.
One stupid convertible to keep the miles off the truck.

The combined total of which is still lower than most people's admissions here.

I’ve had it since brand new 1 mile on it. So about 30% was spent in the very beginning and the bulk of money was spent in 2022 plus I’ve been working in the automotive industry for 25+ years and have built great relationships with a lot of awesome people that work for awesome companies so I can’t say I’ve spent that actual amount.

I’ve gotten fully sponsored and nice discounted hookups and some stuff I paid full pop for. But this is what it would be if retail was paid on everything.

fun story time; i was talking with a co-worker that collects massey tractors. he's one of the only guys in the local farmers club that collects them. has spent tens of thousands on different models, and restoring others to show condition. likely more than most of us have into the tacoma purchase. he drives a $300 beater car every day, because the daily transportation isn't as important to him as his tractors.

we got to talking one day about his collection and i showed him this picture.

he just starts laughing and says "why?". i said because speakers are to me as tractors are to him. same as my mom used to collect Precious Moments figurines.

we've all got our own collections, and many have stories behind that are far more valuable than the actual cost. many of the speakers in that image are either built out of parts, restored from damage, or carry sentimental value from my past.

the central/lower black KLH 3-ways were free garbage salvage, but exist specifically for all the memories of tormenting the poor best buy staff during my teenage years cranking those speakers in the store with otherwise-terrible music selections, and then walking around the store to if i could hear it at the other side.

Are the sideways ones on the outside DLK?

They remind me a bit of my Dad's model 1-1/2's

they're actually radio shacks in-house brand realistic speakers. specifically they're the nova 10. the more premium version is the optimus 27, with a more premium dome tweeter.

realistic brand speakers have always been a fun rabbit hole for me. there were many well-performing designs that are extremely cheap and have very little documentation due to them existing before the internet age.

All things Tandy were awesome before the Internet. (Mother ship of radio shack, incredible universe, comp USA, and a few other chains.)

For a short while they had the best RC cars on the market. I might have set more than one on fire from overrunning the battery.
