So after a few months with no response from prinsu it's time to show off what I have been left to deal with.
Originally I thought it was just a wax residue but as it got worse I tried cleaning it my hand and low and behold it's corrosion. So it would of started about 4 months after install. 7 months in the shop I purchased it through put in a warranty request and I submitted one directly. Neither of us have gotten a reply called them out on an Instagram post they replied to DM pictures and that sits unread aswell.
The rack itself has functioned perfectly fine but this coating is borderline pathetic. My aluminum bumper that has been on twice as long as the rack shows 0 corrosion.
The shop stated there was a bad run and mine was purchased in that time frame but somehow prinsu doesn't seem to want to do anything about it.

I finally got tired of looking at it and pulled it off the truck awhile ago.

First off, that sucks! Are the cross bars corroding as well? I am not super familiar with Prinsu, but I think the cross bars are anodized? I can't tell from the picture. But if they are, perhaps there is an environmental factor contributing to it? Unless you live on Venus, I can't think of any environment that would cause that after 4 months, but I am just being curious.

No issues on the cross bars only all the powder coated components are affected.
Don't get me wrong here in Canada the winters are rough on everything but when compared to my powdercoated aluminum bumper that's been in the same weather for longer it looks brand new in comparison.

Yeah, Canada can be rough I hear, but unless you guys have acid-snow or something, I can't see that being the cause. Sorry about your rack. It would be nice to see Prinsu step up, especially since it is just the sides and fairing. Seems like a really small cost to back your product and generate some good will.

Finally a follow up. The shop I purchased it through got a reply and all affected components will be warrantied. See how long it takes for the replacements to arrive.

My wind deflector part looks like that but I think because I cut it more to fit my light bar, the sides look fine right now, probably the bare exposed aluminum
Thinking its similar to when you put aluminum pots and pans into a dish washer

That sounds about right. You need to re paint where you cut it out otherwise that corrosion will set in fast.

I've had similar issues with a couple different Prinsu products (roof rack and awning brackets). I contact them and they wouldn't do anything about it. I really like the look of their rack but i'm nervous about buying another based in Minnesota.

They did end up warrantying my sides and fairing. It took the better part of 3 months of bolth me and my local shop chasing them. The worst customer support I have ever seen

Yeah, I’ve encountered somewhat the same, but not to the same extent on west coast Canada, my ridgeline handles started bubbling and corroding a month after installing, not to mention the hardware prinsu uses is just brutally cheap. For a $1100cdn roof rack, you’d hope they’d atleast use a better grade hardware. My roof rack wasn’t tooooo bad after 2 years, but I was meticulous about cleaning it off after I hit the bush for a couple days or stomp around the snow.
Hearing about how customer service is, I think I’ll be going with UpTop when they bring out a top tier rack for the 4th gen.

That’s wild! I’ve had my Prinsu rack for a couple of years now and it’s survived the California sun and East Coast winters just fine…

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
I got mine back in ‘17. The powder still looks good on mine but all the hardware is starting to look like crap.

I bought mine second hand, and would recommend using SS hardware if you don’t care about the shiny bolt heads.

The bolts that came with the rack have started to leach and oxidation that runs off from the rain.

That’s a good point, I did replace my hardware early on with a better set…
