Well it has been over 7 years now and after the initial bugs and fixes during the first year my truck has been flawless . I bought it as my last truck I will need and it still looks like that will be the case. 40500 miles , no leaks , no using of any fluids including oil , no rust to speak of , runs great and still looks like new.
We bought a 2022 Rav4 Hybrid and really like the extra power it adds to the gas efficient 4 banger , and think it will be good for the new 2024 Tacoma, but it will not be worth getting one for us. I have been reading and following all the hype of the new 2024 Tacoma and it looks impressive if for a one vehicle family. Since my truck is for boat and light trailer towing as a second vehicle , I think never needing to worry about needing a hybrid battery or turbo replacement is a big plus. The Rav4 Hybrid will most likely be replaced by the time it is 7 to 10 years old so the battery is of no concern to us because the enjoyment of driving with the extra power compared to a small engine is a joy . The extra lane assist and self driving is nice but just a novelty in its current stage and only use it once in a while . My Tacoma has the backup cam and rear cross traffic alert and are all I need and appreciate.
At 64 yrs young , the older I and the 2016 Tacoma get, the less I will have a need for it but it should be there , ready to do what ever I need without worry of aging battery or extra nanny tech failing .
Long live my 2016 third gen !
Anyone else feel the same ?IMG_1446.jpg

Felt the same way about my 2016 OR AC at 107k miles. I traded it in for 2023 OR AC because I was worried the 4th gen wouldn't have the Access Cab and the bed dimensions would change and my OVRLND camper would not fit on the new bed rails. Otherwise I would have kept my 16 for another 100k mi.

My experience mirrors yours. My Tacoma has 55K miles on it. I also like the RAV4 too. I had a RAV4 Gen 1 like in the link below. I have been driving Toyota products for 35 years. I love Toyota, but in all those years never felt the need to buy back-to-back generations of any model. I would have bought another RAV4 if the 2 door soft top was not discontinued (like the Tacoma Access Cab doors). The 4th Gen Tacoma looks great, but still no inticement for me to own back-to-back generations.

Mine's 6 years old, and I feel the same as the Op. Heck, I'm still waiting for the original Battery to die.....

Mine died at about 35 months and Toyota paid for me new AGM Northstar 27F . Along with my Cooper AT3 XLT E series I should be good for years .

Good to hear. I'm on year 5 on my Duratracs, that I replaced after 6K miles, selling off the Kevlar Highway tires. I will be replacing the Duratracs this year with 255/80/17 Wildpeaks, only because the Duratracs dont come in that size.

Bottom, line, I'm planning on keeping this truck as long as possible.

I've had my 2016 for 4 years now and i still love, It's my daily driver and my wife and I take turns on road trips.
No major issues to speak of although i may get into a 4th gen after 3-4 years but that remains to be seen. I have 0 complaints about this tacoma.

My 17 just turned over 40,000 miles, hate that Toyota eliminated the access cab so no Gen 4 in my future. If my 17 gets wiped out I don’t know what I’ll get to replace it. Probably a used Gen 3.

I agree with not knowing what to get if my 2016 were to be wiped out . I would want something with the least tech that would not mind sitting around not being used everyday. Possibly an older restored truck .

I had an 84 Toyota PU before my 17 so I’m really spoiled by the comfort and extras of the newer ones, but I really don’t like what Toyota has done with the Gen 4 so nothing newer than a 17 for me.

Same here pretty much, my 2017 DCLB was purchased new and has given me 36K trouble free miles to date; the only thing I've had to replace was the battery which only has a 5 yr +/- life anyway. All scheduled maintenance done by dealer. My rear top brake/bed light didn't leak but I had it replaced anyway since it was free and had one ECU flash to solve the dead gas pedal issue at higher altitude. Overall my rating is a sold A-. FYI this is my second Toyota pickup.

85k on my 16, still my favorite truck of the five Toyota pickups I've had. Not sure what I would replace it with if it were wrecked.

Not interested in the 4th gen unless they brought back Quicksand or Lunar Rock.

8 years now , 45136 miles . No problems other than a cracked tail light from an engine surge in reverse while backing into my garage.( I only have 6 inches to spare) Main uses are pulling a trailer with a golf cart , and boats. Still no coolant or oil leaks or any other problems , same Northstar AGM battery from 2019. I like the body style better than the 2024 and still very happy with my purchase . I am told it still looks like new. I think it was the best retirement truck I could have bought for my needs.
