after replacing the engine and many other parts it's at least $20,000 on top of the truck. This thread has me regretting everything.

    Why?

When I look at the cost of my various mods, they actually seem reasonably-priced considering what they add to the truck in way of capability, impact resistance, convenience, luxury, etc.

Contractor cap is absolutely ace for carrying tools etc. all year round. I like rear ambulance-style doors instead of the traditional upper-door/lower tailgate configuration.

Hmmm, well so far most of what went in my Tacoma came out of my old LS460, what didn't fit had to be replaced. If I had to pay all over again, including new equipment: north of $5000 in the sound system, including miscellaneous install items, 2 Evo 10's, custom Mr. Marv box, Morel speakers, Helix and Arc amplifiers. I didn't quite realize exactly how much I've put into car audio until this little exercise, I had to look it up- I can't imagine the install cost if I didn't do it myself. Far cry from my first system 20 years ago- Volfenhag- a German concept- Shit eBay brand because I didn't know better. $360 for the aftermarket dash cam and OEM wiring kit to cut up so I could plug n play it above the sunglass case. $30 for bed lights (really tough choice, so pricey!). Still planning on a tune for the audio system (Resonix can do it better than I ever could), tinted windows, on the fence about the OTT.

I have a spreadsheet where I've listed every mod I planned to do and began checking them off as I did them. Also kept a running total of all the money I've spent on parts. Most I've gotten for deals, sales, coupons, etc. But man, that total sure adds up quick and is a little hard to look at lol.

My total investment so far is

    $11,961.95

    Ouch

A few, mainly added skids. I like leaving the suspension alone. I drive forest service dirt roafs in the desert west extremely extremely too fast. Toyota nailed this suspension going 65 across desert terrain. Changing it is dumb unless you have a specific need like crawling or mud.
Some of you have far more money in your g3 then it costs to completely redo an older Toyota Truck.

I'm just pointing that out if any of you get bored with your g3 mods.

They are a ton of fun too. Plus then when you find a better one you can sell the last one for a handsome little profit. Rinse and repeat.

Just a thought brothers! We could use this level of enthusiasm over in the Toyota Truck sub section. People don't seem as into doing it anymore, but everyone loves the trucks and will pay for them.

I don't have spreadsheet but I have a list on my thread... I should have put the price down like others did.

@Road_Warrior, the total is about the same on my end as well. It could be more or less. I have receipts somewhere.

I have not gotten lift but I think about skipping that. So I plan to get off road tires, wheels, and bumpers. That would be around 20K.

Just added toolbox and roof-rack to haul my fishing boat 100's of miles into the backwoods every week. Goodrich K02s, Bilstein 5100 front and back, no lift.
    Me:

    E load tires at 265 75 16
Bilstein 5100 front and back, no lift
Thule roof rack for my boat
Toolbox for all of my emergency gear
Firestone air bags for frequent heavy loads

    Thats it.

I like to spend my money on fuel so I can get to these kind of spots on a weekly basis. In the 6 years with this truck I have managed to fish 40 different lakes, and a ton of exploring hunting for new spots.

Before moving here I had fished over 100 other lakes in BC, but not in the Okanagan regions. Check out the map. Every fish marker is a lake.

Most lakes I fish are very remote and hard to reach so I never see any other trucks or fishermen. Lots to like in a smaller truck that can navigate narrow overgrown trails that full size trucks just don’t fit down.

    I have a spreadsheet. Can't help it.

    - I try not to look at it...

All additions are for function - and enabling adventures.

The fact that it looks cool is purely coincidental...

There is cost of parts and then there is cost of labor.

Right now I’m somewhere below $3000 just for my snugtop.
