My basic OR Bronze didn't come with a slim card fob. I asked the dealership parts dept and they told me that my vin either didn't include it or Toyota ran out of them. So I bought one from Rave Offroad for $350. Took it to the dealer and they programmed it for $175. It works and it's great, worth it. just putting this out there as a workable option.

They’re nice to have as an option. I tested mine a couple weeks back when I was going to a baseball game and didn’t want keys in my pocket to worry about. No issues. Also, that’s messed up you didn’t get one with your truck.

This key fits perfectly in the back of my XSTO wallet without feeling loose.

    Stealerships rob us with programming.

My '15 Sierra that I bought used didn't come with a remote (work truck), but was compatible for one. Bought a used one on fleabay. Called local dealer, 125$ for programming. Dealer next town over, 50$. Went for the 50$. Truck went in the shop, back out a few minutes later. I talked to the tech about remote start and was missing stuff for it. Almost left without paying, I went to pay the service advisor, she responded, I can't charge for a 2 minutes job, that's wrong. Guess where I kept going for service?

Does Techstream work on 4th gens? I used it on my 3rd gen and programmed my key card for free myself. Well, I paid like $18 for the cable from the laptop to the truck, but that was it. I'd imagine the process is similar on the new truck if the software is up to date.

With that in your wallet, you can walk up to the truck and it unlocks? Then push button start it?

Does the 4th gen lock itself when you walk away?

Yes, when I touch the handle it unlocks... hop in and push to start. I have to manually lock the doors upon exit or once outside of the vehicle I can swipe the handle with my finger to lock from outside. I don't carry the big fobs ever. don't even notice it in my wallet either.
