Hi all, I am changing the fluid in my transfer case. Dealer wanted $250 to change the fluid in the diffs and the TC. I already did the front and rear diffs and used Mobil 1, but it is hard to find a straight answer on what to use in the TC. I know Toyota has their own stuff, but after some research I purchase a quart of Redline. I accidentally bought the MT-90 Redline which says it is for manual transmissions, my truck is an automatic. Does it matter? Can I still use this and be fine or should I exchange it? The other Redline products seem to be hard to find. No auto part stores around me carry it and it seems to be backordered online. Thanks!

It's not the spec'd fluid but it will work fine. Your truck being automatic doesn't matter, it's a fluid meant for manual transmissions but it also works okay in the Toyota transfer case. There are quite a few 3rd gen transfer cases with GL5 or GL4 gear oil in them. MT90 is a GL4. I am running GL4 in mine and it shifts better now than it ever did with the stock Toyota stuff.

Thanks for the input! It is hard to get a straight answer on a lot of the fluid related questions
