Ok noob question here....what is the purpose of upgrading the control arms? I mean they look cool, but is there a performance/durability/safety etc. reason?

For one they allow you to properly align your vehicle with anything over 3 inches of lift plus they give you additional clearance from your coilovers as well

    Update...

So... Last year I replaced these with the newer Icon Delta joint UCAs. Time for something new and improved.

These eBay suicides ended up working just fine.

The issues I ran into... the uniballs wore out pretty quickly, within the first 6monhts had play and noisy as shit. replaced them with industry standard FK uniballs. while replacing I noticed the misalignments were worn around the areas of contact at full cycle so I decided to replace those as well with Total Chaos parts. The last thing I did at that point was to replace the red bushings... this was purely cosmetic for me as I wanted black bushes so picked those up from Camburg.

Final thoughts... there was a lot of wheeling done on these in that first 6 months. 35" tires on a pre runner so lots of skinny pedal and lots of abuse. at some point I also shifted from a coil lift to a spindle lift which replaces the factory steering knuckle with a seriously heavy lift spindle (Maxtrac) so even more "strain" on them and they held up.

After replacing parts... ran them for about 5 years. Tons of more wheeling. Tons of road miles. 60k miles plus... before putting on the Icons.

As with all things there are pluses and minuses... I would say in the end they were more affordable than brand names even after replacing parts.

I'm not dead... the truck made it through tons of dirt miles and I ended up selling them to another owner who's running them today.
