I’m wondering what the advantages/ disadvantages are for same size tires on different size wheels. 32” tires on 16” rims v. 32”tires on 17”rims ?? Assuming same tire width as available and same model rim in the 2 sizes.
    Thanks for all your feedback!

That difference is pretty negligible. All else being equal the 16" setup will give you a larger sidewall - which should translate into a potentially softer ride and more squish for compliance and grip when offroad over rocks and uneven type surfaces. But I think you'd be hard pressed to actually feel that difference.

In the real world there will also be a weight difference. That is impossible to predict as you'd need to look at the specific wheel/tire weights. Often times, the setup with the 17" will end up being heavier - at least that's what my data shows from when I was comparing wheel/tire weights.

Additionally, there's the real world factor that you probably won't find two similarly sped'd wheels. It's likely you'll find that when go move up to a 17" from a 16" that you are also going to increase the width. Most aftermarket 16's will be 8-8.5" wide and most 17's will be 8.5-9". Within the same brand/model it's common for the 17" to be 1/2" larger than the 16". This could also have some effects depending on the situation.
