Passenger side wasn't too bad. Driver side looks like it'll be a pain on the ass...

Sorry, I'm not the best at photography.

I'll update later this evening. Gotta fix a different vehicle for a neighbor first.

Being that you have a 2005, the welds around the frame perch for the engine mount aren't cracked are they?

I can't even see the driver's side mount. The rubber must have crumbled. The radiator fan blades were hitting the bottom of the shroud after i drove over some craters on these shittyass new Orleans "roads" ha.

I haven't assessed if there is any significant damage.

However, the old truck was otherwise driving just fine

Glad we could help you find that. Of course, you still would have seen that once working on that side.

The 05, and some 06 models are known for this perch separation. Later models had factory additional material.

DMZ Fab sells gusset kits. Other companies may as well. However, you could easily make your own to reinforce the area, after you weld that back together.

You've got a MIG/ Flux core welder I hope. TIG would be a challenge in those tight spots.

Yep, i have a gas wire welder and actually am a school trained welder (that hasn't wellded in a few years)

Looks like I'm going to have to pull the motor to get in there and do a decent job.

The real problem is, my shop isn't finished. No power. I'm currently running off of 150' extension cords.

I doubt that will make a consistent bead.

I guess I'll be driving the old brick nose ford for now. But I haven't rebuild it's A/c system yet. I'll be driving around with swamp ass for a while.

Well, you can support the transmission, and slide it back. Then only have to pull the engine itself.

Unless you want to pull the pair.

Take the time and make it that job as easy as you can. I can only offer that encouragement.

Yep, definitely not a Job to rush.
I got plenty of other vehicles to get around in. But this Taco is my favorite one.
I might have to run my welder off of generator. It's an inverter welder and i hear people say to never run an inverter welder from a generator.
I guess we'll see in a few weeks how this works out.

For reference, My finger is where the dipstick goes.

Please remember to completely remove your engine mounts from the frame, before lifting the motor up too much.
