Looking for a good mechanic suggestion around Santa Rosa. My truck (2015 4.0 manual 99k miles) died on Saturday morning right when I left to go camping. Surging while accelerating with little power, but the truck stayed running at stop lights until I parked to pick up my buddy. My truck wouldn’t turn back on - cranks fine, all electronics work fine, battery and oil replaced 2 weeks ago.

Find a code reader and check to see what’s going on. Check all the the fuses and relays.

You can borrow a reader from autozone.

I put one on and it isn’t throwing any codes unfortunately.

Try disconnecting battery for 15 min. I find it odd it won’t start but has no codes.

I live in Santa Rosa. the best mechanic that I have found is Al's Village. he hasn't done me wrong yet, like a few others. I think he (his name is not Al) on the expensive side. for my big troubles, I still suck it up and take it to my OG mechanic in Concord, CA. knock on wood, that is a rare occurrence.

full on guess. I am going to say the problem is in fuel delivery. it had enough to idle, but under demand, there wasn't enough fuel.

Thank you! It ended up being the fuel pump. I am surprised it went out before 100k. I am not super well versed mechanically so was surprised the truck had no codes or CEL.

Also, quite funny I wish you would have replied earlier, the truck died right off Summerfield. I probably could have pushed it there! :bananadead:

    ARGH!!!

yup..fuel pump was my thought. that won't always throw a code. I think the truck thinks you ran the tank empty.

How much did you end up paying, if you don't mind me asking.

Not bad, a couple hundred dollars cheaper than what I paid for in Santa Clara.
