Does anyone know if the plastic in the picture is supposed to go above or below the fender metal?

    Asking for a friend.;)PXL_20240619_174304943.jpg

99% sure the weather stripping goes on top the sheet metal.

Thanks! Though that's a v6 it's actually pretty helpful right now on my rebuild.

Seriously I've never seen an engine bay so clean though....did you just get it detailed?

That's not my engine bay. I stole it form another post.

I have NEVER cleaned my engine bay.
I only "clean" things before I work on them.
If it's not broke, I don't clean it :anonymous:

I actually enjoy doing that stuff, and wouldn't mind taking you up on the offer and can thank my Dad for that. All of his cars over the years looked showroom-detailed while he owned them, especially under the hood. When I brought the Tacoma over to his house after I got it for him to look over shortly before he passed, the first thing he asked asked for while we were walking out to the truck was a look under the hood. I was ready for him:

His reaction after I got the hood-prop secured was simple:

    "Wow"

My reaction was automatic and reflexive: An ear-to-ear grin. :D

My dad is the same way. That's probably why I hate detailing.
He has a Ram 1500 that he won't drive if he thinks it's going to rain or get "dirty".

    Me? No.
    I'm more focused on maintenance.
Plus, I don't like working on vehicles.
So any time the hood is shut, is a good time.

My dad was a mechanic until I was a freshman in high school.
Then he became a truck driver. On the weekends he "mechaniced" on the side.
I grew up around it and helped. But never "liked it".

...and looks like it's secured by a clip.

I used to like it, and still do somewhat. I used to scrub every fastener with a toothbrush and wd40, then it went back in with a dab of anti seize unless it needed lock tight. Now that I get paid to do it, I don’t want to do more of the same when I get home.

Agreed, last thing I want to do after working on cars for 8-10 hours is do extra work on mine.
