Yesterday was nice spent most of the day riding. Woke up early but left later than I planned to, probably after 6am. Got home midday and had lunch, felt like riding still despite the heat so went back out for a few hours. It was near 90 degrees but humidity was low, tolerable when you're moving. Just cruised the backroads and stopped by a couple parks. Did 250 miles was nice getting back on the Duke hadn’t ridden it in a few weeks. Even had a working camera with me…

Very interesting that you found a chunk of the valves out of spec. All of mine at 22k were fine but now you have me curious as I have 7,000 mi on the bike under probably the hardest riding a super tenere has ever seen. Always so hard to tell if exhaust valves are tight unless there's hard starting when hot which I don't have but even on the loose end it's hard to hear the extra mechanical noise cuz the motor itself is a mechanical cluster of clicking and clacking

So I found the sound. I noticed it again yesterday while sitting still. The push pin on the rad guard had popped out

I’ve ridden the XSR900 and MT09 and (sat on the Tracer). I do prefer the longer swingarm of the Tracer/XSR for sure over the MT, but they were all a little more bike than I’m looking for to commute around town and 200 mile round trips to visit family.

Same here, BBQ is so good I'd stuff myself and need a nap!

If I would have cranked out another 750 miles yesterday (kidding ha) could have started working toward the Federal Holiday Rides. I wonder if anyone's done them all within the calendar year...I'm sure the answer is yes

Not sure if you're on FB but if so join the IBA group over there and you'll see. The guy who developed that ice cream ride has done bunches of them including doing them as an all instate ride, multi state rides, and more. I told you there's a woman that did the Ride around PA that we did who combined that ride with the ice cream ride, and another event all in one ride. I think sometimes some of these folks really push just for the sake of pushing the envelope and one-upping each other.

My goal has been and continues to be that each ride has to have some meaning to me and not just cranking out miles. Nothing wrong with that as it's still a tough ride. I just want each one I do to be special and not just a rehash of something I've done before.

I have read some people say they didn’t need to adjust anything during the first check, while others have said they had to adjust once and then never again after. I was hoping I wouldn't need to adjust but I had the shim kit ready so it wasn’t a big deal, I guess.

I made it to work today as well! It might be in my head but I swear the bike runs way smoother now. I also found out that the spark plugs in the bike were the incorrrect ones with the wrong tip that doesnt fit in the coils properly so that might have been part of it.

I feel like my 2014 FJR runs better since my valve check and adjustment. Placebo affect? Don't know or care really. I will say my fuel economy is a little better.

Anyone running LED signal lights with success on their bikes? Picked up a KLX300SM recently and would like to change them to clean it up a little. Amazon has many to choose from, though in my experience of other LED products from there they either don't last or have very poor daylight output. Other options I've been looking into are OEM LED's from either the latest Tenere 700's, or Asia market CRF300L.

I've p much only used Galfer or EBC pads across all my bikes

My bmw has NRC signals for front and rear, haven't had any issue or complaints about visibility in daytime, but the rears are tucked under the tail which helps, fronts are low and to the sides so hard to see anyways.

Noticing a funny noise since riding my BMW the past week. I don't really know what it could be, as it was recently serviced just before being down for a couple months. odd whistling noise, almost like a supercharger whine, in the mid range from around 25-60mph, most noticeable in 2nd and 4th gear, but doesn't seem to happen with any real consistency. primarily when engine braking, sometimes under acceleration, pull the clutch in and it disappears. Was a lot more prominent when I first picked it up, seems to be doing it less so as time goes on. Lubed my chain, checked my bolts, open to ideas lol.

was going to do a long ride yesterday for the day off, but between that and waking up with a pulled back muscle I figured I’d take it easy so here’s a pic a buddy took before my fairings get too worn in.

Sounds transmission related, probably not the chain if it only happens in certain gears and not when the clutch is pulled in.
