I know there are multiple posts on the 3rd gen forum discussing cat shield options. I read thru them all and decided to go with Cali Raised on my 2023 Limited 4D. Many of the threads i read mentioned fitment issues with Cali Raised but it sounded as though they had gotten the fitment issues resolved.
As of my order on Memorial Day 2024 they have not gotten the fitment issues resolved. The right shield in the pair that were sent to me was impossible to mount without major modification. I cannot recommend this product.

I sent my mechanic the installation video from Cali raised site and he estimated 15 to 30 minutes for the install. The left shield went on pretty easily but the cut out for the forward bolts on the right side weren't even close to lining up. After much trial, error, modification and over an hours time for just the right side the installation was complete.

Below is a pic of what had to be done to the shield to get it to fit. I could have never done this install in my garage without a lift, grinding tools and a drill.

I don't have another manufacturer's option to recommend but I'd certainly go elsewhere.

Well, this concerns me as I just ordered those for my 2020! Please post the pic when you get a chance.
Also, did you contact CR and ask about the fitment issues you encountered?

I would like to see OP's pics to see if that's the case and there was some slight revision made by Toyota..............or is it possible that the shields were old stock from a retailer and didn't have the CR "updated" design?

I ordered the cat shields direct from Cali Raised. I emailed them about the issues I had including the above pic but have not gotten a response.

Not trying to be a jerk but is it possible that your mechanic was doing something wrong? There are many folks on the forum that have installed these and they see to work just fine.

Any chance the wrong part was ordered or sent? IE, shield was for a 2wd and not 4WD,2nd gen or 4Runner, etc?

The wrong part was definitely not ordered. From my order "Catalytic Converter Shield For 2016-2023 Toyota Tacoma - 4WD 6 Cylinder ".

I can't speak to whether the wrong part was sent.

Just as the install video shows, the installation should be easy, if the parts fit. My mechanic has over 30 years of experience and there was no way to bend, wedge or gorilla the shield into place without modifying it.

Give the CallieRaised member a chance to notice the "alert". There have been reports of a "transitional issue" with fitment a few months back. Perhaps some "old design" units slipped through ...

I've had version one when they first came out which they replaced hassle free with version 2 when version one started to rattle like many had with the 1st version. Absolutely no problems with the 2nd version mounting or rattling. I had my mechanic put on the 2nd version for me as my back was acting up. He didn't have any issues. I would suggest calling or emailing them, they have a warranty process

Yeah, I received the second version and had no issues installing myself. Maybe 15-20 mins max on my ‘23. It was easier to install than blacking out the chrome bumper caps.

From what I recall the previous version was not that far off in fitment. It was contacting the frame in another place causing the rattle.

I put them on my ‘23 sport. The biggest thing that helped me was to get all bolts started before tightening any of them.
The first side took me 45ish minutes. The second (passenger) side took 10 min.
It would have helped if the included security bolts were 1/2 inch longer.
