    Looks like sold out there. But Wheeler's Offroad has them for the exact same price. You just have to put them in your cart separately. I just got my 6112s from them a couple months ago, I've had 5160s on the rear for a few years already.

    And just a note/reminder. Most Bilstein's are Digressive shocks.

    Summary:
    Digressive shocks are bad at small bumps and large bumps, but good at handling and g-outs. Progressive shocks are good at small bumps and big hits, but bad at handling and g-outs.     If we're talking 6112s, that's not correct. There are clip settings that should not be used on our trucks. Those lower settings are only suggested for the older 4runners per the charts below.

    6112/5100 combo will get rid of the floaty feeling AND make it better over harsh imperfections.

    I would also suggest hitting up wheel every weekend. Not only is he experienced he has helped put together some excellent comparisons in a fantastic video series.

    Unless you wheel hard it is my understanding that the 5100 in the rear is just as good as the 5160s. The 5160s add remote res for improved cooling and heavy wheeling but the valving is the same.

    Also research hammer hangers. My understanding is they are the single biggest improvement you can make to get rid of the "jitter" in the rear.

    Depending on budget I might even recommend 5100/5100 and hammer hangers over a 6112/5160 setup.

    Bilstein recommends 4600s if you aren't going to be lifting the truck.

    I have the true 4600s all around on my truck and they are way better than the stock Toyota Bilsteins. The real 4600s are much bigger in diameter than the Toyota version. Would highly recommend. Solved my body dive and roll problems when braking and cornering.

    Just added toolbox and roof-rack to haul my fishing boat 100's of miles into the backwoods every week. Goodrich K02s, Bilstein 5100 front and back, no lift.
    For city/highway driving, 5100 front and back much better than stock for the TRD OR trim. Very little nose dive, far less roll.

    They are significantly harder off road than stock. The stock bounce up and down like a trampoline off road.

    I could not take that bouncing as I am offroad weekly. In my case, offroad means constant deep potholes, and a lot of very brutal washboard with inclines. The kind of washboard you hate with a passion. Lots of deep bumper dragging washouts, etc.

    So Bilstein 5100 for this thpe of offroad is a much harder ride. Some might prefer the stock ride for the type of trails they drive. For me it was a trade off between too soft and too firm. I still prefer the firmer 5100 off road now compared to the stock ride. The firmer ride combined with E load tires will result in more suspension wear and tear, but again trade offs. I could go C load tire or such but I am remote solo every trip on tire eating trails so I stick with E load.

    You can of course air down, which I do every trip. E load tires are very firm so I need to air down.

    The other thing you can do is put at least a few hundred pounds of weight in the back for off road.

    I have 65 pound sand bags for winter, and in summer and spring I will put 4 of those in the back. That is in addition to my toolbox which is about 250 pounds. The weight in back keeps the rear solid and helps absorb the bouncing on bad trails. Without that weight and 5100s and bad washboard, it can be pretty, pretty, pretty rough.

    This being an Off Road thread I might get flamed for my thoughts...

    Before I ordered my TRD Sport I drove both the Off Road and Sport back-to-back; front end dive was one of the first things I noticed between the two, and given my Tacoma was intended to spend 99.9% of its life on paved surfaces, I ordered the Sport which has a stiffer suspension.

    I have the OR and will mostly be driving on pavement too. The reasons you've provided are why I'm looking to install a set of 5100s to improve the handling and ride.

    What I'm wondering is if it might make sense to buy a set of TRD Sport shocks from someone with a Sport who is upgrading to a more off-road worthy suspension? I ask that because I've read posts here from many Sport owners who've gone full-tilt-boogie in upgrading their suspensions for some extreme off-road work and might still have their OEM shocks laying around.

    From what I have heard the Hitachi shocks on the sport, although firmer, are also much more harsh as well.

    This gets into high speed vs low speed dampening but the digressing valving of the 4600/5100/6112 allows it to be firm but not harsh

    While I don't think I'd enjoy driving my Sport off road for any significant distance, the shocks have been literally a perfect blend of firmness for the on-road work, regardless of whether it is just my wife and me, or with a full load towing a fully loaded trailer. My wife and I are, ummm, "old" and have had many cars between us and she says the Tacoma is her favorite "road trip" vehicle compared to anything she's ever ridden in. I'm not sure I'd go quite that far, my 2002 BMW 530i Sport and my 2006 Acura TL Sport make strong arguments in my brain for the top two road trip vehicles with the Tacoma coming in a solid third.

    How does the 6112/5160 combo do with washboard?

    I’m in Patagonia Argentina for the next 18 months and I have about 30 miles of washboard each way to the two ranches I'm working on every day. It’s a nightmare.

    I don’t have this truck anymore, but I loved the ride of the Bilstein 6112/5160s. I had mine set on the 3/4 perches for only about 1” lift and no lift in rear. The truck rode and handled so much better than stock. You could keep them on the lowest setting and go with no lift.

    I’m on my 3rd setup now (stock bilsteins with spacer, Eibach stage 2R, and now Dobinsons MRR’s)

    the spacers rode absolutely terrible and blew out my stock struts in 15k miles. The eibachs were an upgrade but rode very stiff.

    the Dobinsons are great. They ride like a Cadillac if you want them too or you can stiffen them up.
