Was spraying dirt off of my Tacoma at the car wash and a big chip came off of the drivers side front pilar. Has anyone experienced this issue anywhere on their Tacoma? MTG

Does it happen to be white? It is pretty common on white vehicles because they are a single stage paint. You can get a little chip and it will cause the paint to lift in a larger area. Seems more common on white vehicles and Toyota has had paint issues for a long time. This of course comes down to poor prep also but is a known issue. I see you put MGT on your post. Take a pic of the area, if it is bare metal then it is a poor prep deal. You can try the dealer being as new as you are. 50/50 on if they will help you or not.

Some car washes apply a lot higher pressure than you should use also. Depending on how close you get the tip that can also be a problem. One small imperfection and it allows that pressure to get under it and presto.

My 21 Silverado has a black front bumper. It is covered in huge rock chips. They just painted over a chrome bumper. Good job GM! I need to take it off, sand it, prep and repaint. Good times.

both accurate. The wrong degree of nozzle or too high of pressure is bad. Also an unknown chip can allow pressure underneath, it lifts and presto!
I don't use high pressure washes often and the one I use I know to be good.

Funny story with a pressure washer. My FIL (awesome guy but not a ton of common sense) borrowed a pressure washer from another family member because he decided he needed to wash his house. My MIL calls me and was like "hey, your idiot FIL fucked up the house, stop by". I do and this MF had left in the tip to wash concrete and my FIL proceeded to go to town on the back of the house. It is T1-11 siding and he has swirl marks and grooves. The paint is blown off all over the place and this tip had the balls to cut through the screens like a knife. I show up and walk out back and my FIL was like "I think I fucked up". I said, yeah buddy. I think you did. Why in the hell would you continue when you could see the damage it was causing. He was like "you know that old bitch was yelling at me so I was just like, Fuck it". LOL, fair enough...

House was clean, right down to the bare wood. Shame it had just been painted a few years prior.
