Tacoma SR5 2016 Headlight Conversion Help Needed

Hey guys so I bought spyders 2016-2023 headlights with led drl and I'm having an issue with them. The low, high and side markers all fit from my existing to these new but the turn signal does not.

Attached is the connectors from the new ones and mine that don't line up plus there is an extra connector for the drl which my 2016 doesn't have as the drl is the same as the turn signal. What am I to do? Tacoma beast is giving me a hard time so returning doesn't look like a good option.

 

You bought the incorrect types for your vehicle. Gonna need some smooth talking to return them.

Or, if your handy/skilled, buy some parts to make it work.

That'll get you a vehicle OEM function for DRL on the turn signal
For the Parking circuit remaining (vehicle side) you' attach that to missing mating (4 spots)

This last one can be easy with just a long small gauge wire to the cabin coming from an added relay in the engine bay.
You'd have dual DRL's.

 

spyder brand headlights,,, never hear of em, ugh return em and get OE.

If you can’t return them, I make a harness that will make them work. It isn’t cheap though at $200, but they will work like they are supposed to. It’s all plug and play

 

Problem is the shipping back will be high because of the 30x30 box they decided to use and another 90 bucks for 20% restock fee.

 

Yeah, shipping will probably run you $60-80 I am guessing (from the few sets I have had to ship). But we can make them work if you wanted to. I don't have a current thread on the SR to TRD halogen conversions (which is what you'd need), but they are pretty close to the SR to OEM LED harnesses install and function-wise. I am willing to bet the switchback won’t like the constant signal on the turn circuit though. That or it will just be Amber constantly, which usually isn’t good either as most of the time the Amber is overdriven.

I am guessing. It says sequential turns. I could be wrong, I don’t know the headlights at all. And they may not mind the constant signal on the turn either for all I know

 

Constant (DRL) is to the turn lamp, nothing else.

 

But if the turn lamp is controlling a switchback function, it would be a constant amber. And some sequential lights don’t like constant signals either. This is all guessing on my part, but it is based off experience with other lights. Let me see if I can find a video of those lights in action or something, that might tell us more.

 

They are a switchback. So I am betting that a constant signal to the turn (from the trucks DRL) would mess with it. It would still work wiring it your way as long the OP never set his stalk switch to DRL or parking lights. Is all switchback controllers are is a relay with a time delay on the trigger that is driven by the turn signal. So a constant signal to it would most likely just make it amber all the time. How the sequential part of that headlight handles that I don’t know. May just do one sequential light and the stay solid? It may do like the OEM LEDs and seize it up and not work past the one flash. Would be curious to find out, but not that curious

 

OP can always turn off the DRL through the head unit...

 

I highly doubt it on a 2016. That didn't become "standard" on SRs until 2020. Some SR5s had it though, so it may depend on what package he has

My lights have to be manually turned on and usually never run the drl
