ICECO VL45PROS slide install

I wanted to share my install of my fridge slide. It might be over thought and over engineered. I recently purchased a VL45PROS fridge with cover and slide. I probably could have cut cost with a cheaper fridge slide, however I didn't want to do all the measuring to confirm it would fit.

I wanted the slide to be removable if I ever needed my truck to be a truck and I didn't want to delete my rear seats in my truck.

I looked at options of mounting the slide to the bed and found that nutserts would be worth a try.

ICECO recommended 4 mounting points but I did six nutserts


I lined up the board with the slide and drilled through the board and the bed. I decided to use the HDPE board to help cushion the vibration of the slide being bolted directly to the bed. I also installed the board to help distribute the weight.


I used stainless bolts and washers. I am going to go back and put loctite 242 on the threads . I ran out the other day.

Love this idea and may have to steal it. @Jeffvt0508 do you have any updates on how this has held up and if you'd removed/reinstalled it and how that went? I really like the idea of something easily removable since I would only want the fridge mounted sometimes.

 

Still going strong! No issues at all with it. I had a tire place throw my old tires on the drawer and bent the the metal of the drawer ( I fixed it) but nothing with the HDPE board

 

Great to hear that! I rigged up a ghetto mount for my fridge for last week while we were camping but now need to get a better setup built and I think I'm gonna do the same nutserts although I'm gonna put them in the valley rather than the peak of the ribbing in the bed so that I can still slide stuff easily on the bed when the fridge isn't mounted.

Kinda crazy how flimsy the slider mount is. Mine came bent, not sure if it was shipping or manufacturing. I could easily just bend it back into shape with my hands. I suppose it doesn't see much load in that direction while in use but still seems awfully flimsy for the high price.

 

So the reason I didn't use the valley for the nutserts was because I felt I'd need a spacer to fill in the void where the bolt would not have hdpe or bed to keep it aligned. ( Felt the lateral force may pull bolts and/or tightening would cause the HDPE would bend into the valley)
