After reading up on tires, I get the wider the larger the gap between treads the more terrain the tire can manage like snow, mountains exc. but also the worse gas mileage am I correct? I live on the coastline in Alaska so I need my tires to have good traction but don’t want to sacrifice gas mileage, can anyone suggest 265/65R18 tire TRD sport, I don’t plan on going off road but lot of gravel an bad pavement? I want to go visit in lower 48 don’t want to keep changing tires.

The new Falken AT4W’s are probably one of the best options out there for all terrain and good wet weather performance. The KO3’s are starting to roll out in more sizes. The Baja bosses are also supposed to be very good. There are others of course but those are the first 3 all terrains that come to mind. If you’re looking for an all terrain tire.

Welcome to TW! Falkens are a great tire, I used to run them but went to a chunkier more aggressive tread for mud, however they really sling the gravel.

I was told to be careful wrong tires can really hurt gas mileage, I don’t have a lot choice, it’s 3 hr drive to the next town, lots of bad roads an wildlife to stop a lot, I looked up K03 they dont come in 18 yet, Falkens weren’t available in 18 either.
