    Any input would be helpful
2022 TRD OR 25K mi. Oil level is good and all services have been done per maint schedule since new, including 5K mi oil changes in between Toyota Care.

Two tanks of fuel (87) from two different stations over 100 mi apart and overall a pinging/knocking a bit starting off from a dead stop from both tanks. I have searched a few times and found a few threads but nothing definite. (FWIW - My Gen 1 and Gen 2 never had an issue in the >100K mi I drove them)

Not good for the engine, I understand that. Worth a trip to the dealership? I do not have access tool.

I had a small issue after putting in some Costco gas. Ran that out and then ran out 3/4 tank of Shell.
Put some Costco in there last week, about 3/4 tank worth and now at 1/4 tank running fine no ping.

I'd run some Chevron in there for a good 1/2 tank and see if it helps.

I don't think a tank or 2 of pinging is gonna wreck that thing, I remember back in the day it was
always a thing before there were better 'standards' in gasoline and cat converters. I think all this
pinging started when cats became a thing.

Incipient knocking is harmless, harmless but annoying. The best possible timing setup for a gasoline powered engine is to have the spark event timed right at the edge of incipient knock; that provides the most power and fuel economy possible.

Thanks, it just started happening and wanted to ask now and not ignore it. Back in the day I could grab the distributer cap of my VW's and with a timing light fix it all. Smart enough now to ask questions beforehand.

Grab a bottle of Techron, [or two, Vatozone had a two for one recently] some the only stuff that actually has been proven to actually clean injectors and such. The other cleaners that do work use the same chemical makeup. The rest is basically snake oil.

There are much better intake cleaners than Gumout. Consider Techron or BKG44.

Agreed and suspicious of bad gas - two different gas stations 100 mi apart. perhaps it's a regional thing. New gas going in this weekend.

3.5 is for sure the worst sounding engine ever. Mine is a 2023. Bought it brand new, only has 4,500 miles on it and it sounded like that from day one.At 3,000 miles I switch to Mobil1 extended performance and it did get somewhat quieter.

5w30 also quiets it down a surprising amount.

in regards to the engine pinging, yes try different gas and a higher octane and see where that gets you.

Honestly alot of vehicles with Direct injection nowadays with knock a little when it's hot and under load. It's annoying but trust the knock sensor. The engine will pull timing as needed to an "acceptable amount of knock" Toyota even mentions in the owners manual that light knocking under load is okay.

Exact same oil I use in my 2023. I have just over 20,000 miles on my truck and been using this oil since first oil change.
