It really depends on the bike. On my Honda 919 i HATED riding two up, just wasnt fun for me or the passenger, constantly bumping into eachother, bike was lazy etc etc.

The super tenere, quite a dream, honestly forget that someone is back there, the weight isnt felt nearly as much and theres so much more room for both people that you arent hitting eachother or bumping helmets etc.

Yeah, when I was younger I rode a few times in shorts and even no shirt a few times. Really bad sunburn fixed that. Dianne was unhappy a few times that I mandated jeans, jacket, and boots but for a while I gave her a pass on gloves even though by that time I wore full gear. We got hit head on in TN in 2019 and the gear we were wearing kept it from being a whole lot worse than it could have been. After that she stopped arguing and bought gloves. She realized you can't overcome the instinct to put your hands out to break your fall.

I don't want to be "that guy" preaching to all of you to get you to wear gear I really don't. If just one person can learn from my mistakes and not have to make them for your self I call that a win.

That matches what I've heard in my 'polling': asking the ladies at rallies with many many miles under them what is the best pillion experience they've had. Full sized ADVs are 100% the win. Of course this is a eurocentric rallies where things like Goldwings aren't represented. They love the height, and the riding experience, less bike than the big boys, but the LT gives them a good experience.

i dont think ive ever ridden in shorts minus t shirts even in dirt minus one time and that was the last time i ever did it! got a pretty gnarly cut up my leg from sliding out on a small pitbike racing some friends in a dirt and rocky area. i know im not a big one with gear since you all have seen me wear just standard clothes with my helmet boots and gloves but i at least have that! i just dont want to be a power ranger when im trying to go out and enjoy a nice day and not sweat my ass off and be miserable. i get it will help when you crash i do... we have been looking at the kevlar jeans they make for motos for both of us when we go riding and at least some type of jacket but trying to find something comfortable that we can still move in is difficult.

Brittany is an amazing woman. I've followed her for years, and have even had a couple of offline exchanges. Class act who speaks from experience, and KNOWS/Loves the bike life

I'm with you on Gear. I found that at modest expense, you can get gear that keeps you 'comforatble' into the insane temps. Yes: driving with arms/hair whatever in the breeze feels wonderful. No argument there. But it's that one time...

i feel this is the biggest plus. im always watching others to see what they are doing but sometimes two heads are better then one. ill see one thing thats an issue and catches my eye and she will catch something else and point it out to me.

I have a set of Viking bags. They’re good for the price point. Perfect if you just want something simple. I would say they do cut corners with a few small details but that’s reflected in the price. If you’re not picky about small details, you should be good to go.
I have these, but I got them before they went on clearance. Never even mounted them. Haha.

Last year when I was participating in that mural tour Dianne went along on a few of the trips and it was amazing how much she would spot down side streets in the city or how she could help figure out a spot for me to park quickly for a photo.

On long trips she'll load her jacket pockets with hard candies or even jerky sometimes and she can unwrap them and reach around to pass me food on rides.

I bought one of these mesh shirts for the super hot summer days. full armour, kevlar reinforced 100% mesh everywhere. and Cheap. I've been completely impressed based on cost. Mens and womens with tons of colors. solid too if plaid is a bridge too far. Look up road armor air rider. Did mention Cheap? I also have a Vanson leather mesh for more serious rides. NOT cheap. But for the august night run out for a burger on a weeknight with my buds. perfect.

ya overall they seem good to me. little details never bug me to much as long as they work and do what they are advertised to do ya know haha
ya its wild how when you are focusing on all the dangers and in a way using as much of your head and body as you can to keep you both safe. having one extra head do the same will grab attention to new things that you overlooked for a more dangerous thing or as you said a better parking spot. Emily has done that a few times when riding where i was watching a car and thinking oh ill go here to park and she just taps me on the shoulder and points at a spot i didn't notice its pretty damn nice. she hasnt handed me the candies or food or anything thou haha maybe once we have some bags or riding jacket with some pockets she can do that if not i feel like im missing out here!

their marketing actually made me look elsewhere but I just couldn't believe actual kevlar at the cost, so I gave it a shot. Fit perfrect and has lasted years now. Skull Riderz. Yes, with a z. o_O

Worst part for me is getting the bugs out of the mesh after a hot summer night run. I literally power wash it. Kevlar mesh means zero absorbency, so it's shakes dry. Can't complain about anything but the name.

thats the name? well alrighty then someone didnt get out of the edgy middle school phase lmao

ya i agree i have a cheap icon mesh jacket that honestly feels like trash... its bulky and doesnt allow movement like at all... but the mesh would catch bugs easily idk if its kevlar all i know is it started to fall apart after a year so i havent touched it anymore lol

Now you can see that area in the daylight, not like when we went through in May. Hope the fog has lifted for you!
