Have others experienced this? Rubber on the door window trim looking bad too. This is my fourth 2nd Gen and first one to have this problem. Anything I can do to make it look better?

Magic eraser will remove the old crud and then you need to protect it with something. 303 just washes off.

That’s what it takes, there’s other post where everything under the sun was tried and end the end this workers best. Use what you want. The rubber is degraded at this point already, so you need to remove that damaged surface. Plus you can control how much it removes with just water.

I haven't used it on rubber, but this stuff works kickass. Used it on my wife's 2014 Rav4 2 yrs ago.

Shortly after applying it her rear bumper had to be replaced.

Recently my brother in law asked what to use on my sister in law's vehicle trim. I told him walk around the Rav4 and forget you know the rear bumper was replaced, tell me if you see any difference around the whole car. He legit couldn't. That's proof enough for me.

I use Cerakote Trim Coat on my plastic and rubber trim. It works great, and the packaging says it will last for over 200 washes. It does better on the plastic trim than rubber, but ti will make the rubber look much better and protect it. Trim Coat is a coating, not a dressing, so it will not wash off. It's super easy to apply. Just follow the directions.

i have scrubbed with soapy water before and then applied mothers "back to black". It seemed to work for a few months. Definitely was not permanent but wasn't a waste.

^^^ This^^^ I think the issue is an organic combination of dirt, weather-exposed rubber and UV. I have tried everything short of "nukes" like gasoline, Coleman Fuel, brake clean and carb-clean in inconspicuous places. Nothing really worked. Alcohol pads made a good dent in it: it looked better, but the dirty, spotted look returned in short order. I even tried NuFinish on it because it doesn't chaulk-out when it dries. Again: looked a little better for a short time then back to square one.

I use Mr Clean Eraser to clean my smooth top stove and it cruises right through the baked on overflows. Not comfortable using it on the $$$ rubber pieces on the truck.
