You could buy the connector itself.
@caribe makaira even listed the part number for both the connector and pins. Then connect it to a 12v circuit.

I was not a member until today and the only reason I joined was to say thank you. Your post was dead on and answered the real question that was missed by many. I think the person asking knows how to plug a USB charger into a cigarette lighter port, but they clearly wanted both charging AND DATA. The problem is many Apple CarPlay and Android Auto stereos have USC-C ports on the back and it looks like crap to just have that wire hanging out the dash. It would look much better to have a more OEM look and I don't want to adapt it back to USB-A inside the dash. For some reason manufactures have not got with the times to make a USB-C (data and charging port) that fits into a stock blank. Options are available if you would like to cut into your dash, but nothing that fits into an OEM blank for USB-C.

See attached photos of a USB-C data/charging port I just installed in my 2018 Tundra thanks to this post. Thank you again!

Mods? We don't need no stinking mods.
USB-A to USB-C cable will allow you to use Android Auto or Apple Car Play.

Why would you want to sacrifice that just to 'flex' with a USB-C-to-USB-C plug?

I'm looking for this STL file, but Shapeways has filed for bankruptcy and the link above is not working anymore. Anyone have the actual STL file?

It is going to get harder to find old style USB cables. It’s already difficult to find the old style that will last.

Now that USB C is supposed to be the standard for iPhones and androids alike I would like to replace my data port so I can keep using Apple car play with a upgraded

in this day and age, USB ports should be modular so we could easily swap out connections for what we want/need at any given time.

Are you sure Apple Car Play/Android Auto will work with this "upgrade?"

I can't imagine B-to-C cables not being available on Amazon for years to come. Besides, how many do you need? I've been using the same cable for Android Auto for four years now.

Stock with a camper shell for now.
Reading through this it appears that there are some options to swap out the cig lighter plug to use for a usb-c but the links are no longer available. I couldn’t find what was for sure a plug and play situation with removal of the stock cig lighter and replacing it with a usb-c plug. Does anyone have experience with a plug and play set up. I don’t want to strip or run new wires but hopefully pull out the existing plug and install something else since I have no need for the cig lighter and with everything going usb-c to usb-c for charging it would be handy to have in my truck.
