I have a Sony CDX-GT630UI head unit. I moved it from an '09 Camry (working perfectly) to an '11 Tacoma. I used the same connections as I did in the Camry. Sometimes the head unit comes on randomly, but it usually never comes on. When it does come on, none of the buttons are responsive. NONE. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

1st thing I would check are the quality of the power and ground connections. A poor ground could produce this sort of issue.

Everything looked fine, but I went ahead and pulled apart the wire harness and taped everything back together again. No luck. I'm not sure how I figured this out, luck I guess, but it has to do with the radio connection (looks similar to the end of headphones). When it is plugged in, the head unit doesn't respond to any button presses. When it is disconnected, everything works fine, except the radio, of course. This isn't a problem for me though as I only listen to my iPod. I do find it quite odd that the radio connection would be the source of the problem though.
