Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
    Been thinking about this...

When I originally put in a block (gasp) the retailer recommended a 1* shim, so I did. As my suspension has evolved, I kept the shim in the rear. Now, with these springs, I would suspect the relationship of the axle to the frame will be greater than stock and the angles of the driveshaft will change. Will I need to change the pinion angle? Who knows.

Shims, whether needed or not are easy enough to change or remove if need be. Shims (which I've made out of bar stock I have laying around) for the carrier bearing would also be easy enough to install/remove.

What's weird, to me, is I bought my truck 2 yrs used.
When I did the lift, I noticed it already had shims at stock height.
Is that normal? Did the previous owner have it lifted and left shims in after removing it?

After I bought it I mentioned to the dealer about a d.s. vibe "that they couldn't hear". ya.
I know now it was the needle bearing.

I left the shims in when I lifted it. Afterwards when I measured the angles, everything was good.
I never measured before the lift but I'm thinking my driveline angles had to be off at stock height when I bought it.

fwiw i would be skeptical of significant vibes at stock/near-stock height considering the number of trucks pulling +15" of travel in the rear on SUA/linked setups and having minimal issues. shim it if you want/if you have big changes in pinion angle. I'd think its probably not a huge deal though.

Not hearing or feeling anything doesn't necessarily mean there isn't a problem, yet.
U joints will operate outside the working angles but for how long?
I just assume make sure they're within the 1-3°.

Got home to a package that certainly reminded me that it's time to get busy correcting the TWArk buff. No more excuses.

To be fair, my ideas are good like.... 1 out of 20 times :anonymous:

I used to work with a Chevy guy who put like, an entire tube of red tacky grease on either side, just jacked his truck up every Sept and slathered it all over the leaves and in between.

    Made a royal fucking mess.

    But

It made it easier to hear his valve ticking :D

Edit: his leaves were messy, but rust free. But he would never treat his frame. Weirdo

As a kid mom would would fry them.
It's a small pond, maybe 1500sq feet and deepest spot normally is 8ft. Fish don't get real big. I feed them because that's what old folks do.

Well Thanks to Adam my front struts are assembled after he let me use his spring compressor and new tires have been ordered. The first week of July and my truck will be almost fully done and then I'll be off for 6-7 days in the U.P.

Glad I could help by having the right tools. And nice to officially meet you, good luck with the lift and enjoy your time off in the U.P.

Was out earlier in the Killsnake Wildlife Refuge to check out the high water. Was there on Mon and drove through, there were spots where the gravel wasn't covered in water, the rest was 4-8" deep, followed a Chevy through in case he got stuck. Today, it's worse. Water was never less than 4" deep, most places were 8-12". There were Ducks and Egrets hanging out on the road, because that was the shallowest spot. At one point, the Egrets jumped up and flew about 100' or so down the road and set back down. When they jumped, I could've swore a fish jumped! Sure as hell, I slowed down and there were a couple of Bass next to me. Wish I could've gotten a picture...should've thrown a line out the window.:D
