The only working key I have for my '08 Tacoma is a gray valet key. I was going to use the TechStream software on my laptop to program a new key into the immobilizer, but it apparently requires a master key to do so. There is another option in TechStream to remove all keys and program a new one but it requires a password from Toyota for approval.
My dealer is telling me that they've never heard of a valet key or had to get a password before and they can program a new key for $65.
Is it really that simple or are they going to have problems and stick me with a higher bill when I go to pick my truck up?

According to service info and the TSB attached below you have to have a master key present or do an immobilizer reset to register new keys.
The reset requires a password through Techstream, there may be aftermarket tooling that does all keys lost without a password but I couldn't tell you for sure.

Thanks for The info. I think I'll call them back with that TSB number and ask them if it's still only $65 to do it.

Well, I called the dealer back with that TSB and they said if they had to do an All Keys Lost it would be more $$$$ but they still weren't sure about the Valet key stuff.
I played it safe and had a local locksmith program the new key. He charged me $85 and did it in 5 minutes while I waited. I now have a master key registered in the immobilizer and I can add more myself if I choose.
    Thanks again.

There is. My xtool d9 does it. It just cost more than the OP going to the dealership, or I this case a locksmith as he mentioned.
