I have to drop the skid plate to change my oil. There's got to be a decent skid plate that won't break the bank, that has a service panel for the oil filter. Right? What do you all recommend?

Depending on the exact design of your current skid plate -- would it work to just cut a hole in it? Hmmmm.

If you are looking for something a little more durable (not for off-roading) but still lightweight ... TRD-Pro, RCI and Cali Raised and others make an aluminum version. If you currently or later-will offroad, then buy a steel version. My RCI steel engine skid is 40 lbs, aluminum ones like TRD Pro are 20-ish lbs.

Thanks for the info. 40lbs isn't really that much weight for the added security, I'd probably skip the aluminum options. I don't off-road with it currently, but I plan to. Gotta look up some yt vids to see what happens to an aluminum plate when it rubs on rocks. I can imagine it's not pretty.

Honestly, that's probably an acceptable option until I replace it with something purpose-built.

The cost of the aluminum might break the bank for you.

I went with all aluminum RCI, even the gas tank. I’m not rock crawling so the thicker/lighter weight alum is enough for my needs.

Whichever way you go you’ll get the filter access but the oil drain will now be a pita unless you have small hands.
Even opening the fumoto valve is a a squeeze for me.

It’s a TON easier with the valve maybe bill get better at it! I only put the valve on recently.

Also, it’d be a mess getting the plug out with the skid.

I have full skids….so I can’t come in from behind….if you just get the engine skid you can get to it easier.

    These are from RCI site…

My only gripes w/ the RCI skids are that they used the button head screws for oil filter access panel and it doesn't protect the LCA/alignment cam bolts. Now my OCD will make me buy protection for the LCAs that also covers the alignment cam bolts. Other than those two items, I am happy w/ the skids: engine, transmission and transfer case. Good value for each compared to C4 and CBI.
