Afternoon boys... 'bout to head out and move the sprinkler wire pipe a d replace it with something bigger, so if there is a next time, will just have to pull the wire (current pipe is 1/2" with pvc fittings and wire does not move easily (was a pain to get it in))

    Afternoon all:

    Sue!

    WHY ME!
Went to get the doe lic., the computer they use to issue them wasn't working at WalMart :annoyed:, went to an archery shop, nothing going on there and found out later that power was out due to the storm :annoyed:, then headed to a hardware store South of us and ended up in about a half mile traffic jam due to an accident :annoyed:, finally made it to the hardware store and was surprised to be only about 10th in line, when I left there may have been close to 40 people in line.

I had mentioned having a few big limbs down in the yard, it looks like the storm that went through hit the areas just North and South of here a lot harder causing multiple road closures due to trees down on the roads and power outages, glad I don't have a major cleanup to do, it could have been a lot worse. I think my hunting buddy likes when trees come down in my yard though, I get to cut them up and he ends up with lots of free firewood!
If he were in better shape, I'd tell him to cut them up if he wanted the wood, but with all things considered I'll do it for him, beats me up a bit but I have no pain like he does. :(

But you got it?? Good you got there before those others did. You are a good friend to cut the wood up for your friend.

    evening gang

 I forgot how I wanted to run the pvc pipe for the sprinkler wire :anonymous: Guess it would have helped if I'd finished it a year or two ago.... Off to Lowe's in the morning to get more sprinkler wire and a 1/2" to 3/4" pvc adapter. Thought I had one, but can't find it.... if I find it, I'll add it to the pile of other fittings I have...

Yeah, stinks when they "improve" things and instead, screwed everything up.

Ok, hoping one of you fine gentlemen can help.... I need to replace my dryer vent... the part in my house is a 4" diameter pvc pipe. How can I clean it out a little, so I can slip the tail piece all the way inside. The tail piece slips in a little and then stops This is what I got. It was the only one that even came close to fitting https://www.lowes.com/pd/IMPERIAL-4-in-Galvanized-Steel-Hood-Dryer-Vent-Cap/1001851516 So, what can I use to clean the inside of the wall piece, so the thing slips all the way in. This is what I'm working with [IMG]
    Thanks for any help....

You mean where all the crap is? Take a weed blower to the other side of the vent?

Nope, the front part is what needs to be "cleaned" out or something.... but it is time to blow it out again.

Pics of what you already have? Are you trying to replace an existing vent with a new part? Or just clean out the old one (which is what I would do rather than replace... unless the original is broken)?

the original was broken and is gone. Due to the size of the pipe in the house, I'm severely limited as to what I can put in. That's why I was happy I found that one at Lowe's, but it won't fit either

So you're trying to fit the new pipe into the house... or match it up with the pipe from the dryer that is in the house?

I want to use this: [IMG] but the tail piece doesn't fit all the way in - it sit's about 1" off the house.

Maybe someone (heating/sheet metal shop) could trim an inch off so it will go all of the way in? The 360* view looks like there may be as much as 4" there. I doubt you need more than inch and a half to get a good enough seal.

The crimped part is what is going to secure the vent to the opening? Cut that off and you're sunk?

I could trim it off, but then it wouldn't fit at all. The end, where it's crimped, is all that fits in the wall.

Maybe I'm not understanding...is the corrugated (crimped) pipe what fits into the wall but doesn't go all of the way in? I'm not suggesting cutting it all off (the corrugated/crimped part), just an inch or so, to allow the flange to sit up against the wall.
