I guess the power difference isn't so much noticeable if you come from a 285/70r17 to a 285/75r17 then. You're saying this fits underneath the truck? I'm assuming some modifications were done to fit?

The only thing about this size is that there isn't much options out there for tires to pick from. I'll look into this size when my current tires are worn out.

    Thank you for your feedback!

Anyone looking for good deal on a like new set of Maxxis 285/75r17?

Got a set of 5, but only had 4 for the picture, as the spare was still mounted.

Looking for $1,000 obo for all 5.

Honestly, yes there was. I’m in Florida so flat ground makes it less noticeable but recently drove through Georgia and the hills were quite annoying shifting all the way to 4th. Definitely more strain on drive train.

Has anyone kept stock gears but done the OTT tune? That is what a local shop suggested.

That's my setup, I don't think the drivability is terrible. I had 285/75/16 Geolandars on since the truck was new so I was already a bit down on mileage from the start. After going to the 285/75/17 and with the tent on and all loaded up for camping I hover around 13-14mpg on the dash (which isn't totally correct cause I haven't ever recalibrated the speedometer). No tent its around 15 or so. Hills are a bit annoying but still can accelerate dropping it down to 3rd gear.

Just had 5:29's installed. Definitely way way way better all around and I haven't gotten on it yet. Around 70 mph, I'm cruising at 2200 rpm. Before when I would sit at 2200 rpm, the engine was chugging along however now, it's oddly quieter at a higher rpm and under way less load. Also no transmission hunting while babying it around. What's even more weird is, my steering wheel vibes are back and feels like my tires are out of balance at around 60 mph... Any insight would help.

Edit: went to discount Tire and re balanced mine on the road force balancer. I needed around 5 ounces a wheel . All good now tho!

Not sure how many have corrected their speedometer, so here’s some info for what it’s worth.

Installed the RC inline speedometer calibrator, and with the corrected info, it looks like I’m getting 17.7 mpg average now (this is also with a box of the roof). Pre-install of the calibrator, I was showing 15.5 mpg average (also with box). Previously with the 32s, I was getting 19.8 mpg or so (this was without the box).

I must be heavier than you, not a chance in hell I'm getting that mileage on stock gears with these tires. Even with a recal I don't think I'm there.

I have a hybrid bumper and winch in front which adds 180# or so, and the rack etc adds for a total of 228#. Don’t carry much in the back on the daily. I don’t drive with a heavy foot and the speed limit here in Oregon is pretty low at 55-60 and I usually go 65. If I had to do higher speeds like 75-80, I’d for sure drop down to 15mpg.

I did make some adjustments per Rough Country’s suggestion latter emailing them. Measured the mounted tire instead of using spec size and my speedometer is for sure closer to GPS. 33.9in measured 33.5 IRL but going to do it again this weekend. Made a small difference in the numbers (changes up and down faster with mpg average which feels more true to life) but I still end up around the final same 17ish mpg for how I drive.
