As title states, I was working on replacing the front brake calipers today when I noticed the ABS and traction control light is back on. In my couple weeks of ownership I knew it needed brake fluid again so I topped it off. The leak was found under the master cylinder which looks to be the electronic/air? brake booster version. I am curious if I can rebuild this unit with new seals. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

The master from Toyota is very expensive... I'm pushing for a seal rebuild if possible.

Which one of these does your master cylinder look like?

    You have the Hydraulic system.
I'd have to look, but at least you know what type you have now. (If you want to search on your own)

Looking for parts on the catalog right now. I'm suspecting master reservoir grommet leak. Also noticed the brake fluid down to the caliper is all new so someone may have blown the seals using a pressurized system.

@Dm93 is more familiar with the hydraulic system than me.
Mine has the Vacuum system. I've only delt with a few hydraulic systems. And they were all on GM trucks.

I just went out and looked at mine, the looks like a weep hole for the pump seal. If it's leaking there most likely it's the pump seal.

As far as I know Toyota does not service any parts for the hydraulic booster, it is sold as a complete unit.

The unit is around $850-1100 from Toyota, maybe could find a used one but who knows if it would be good or not and they are very specific to what packages and configuration your truck is.

Thank you for all your help, I really appreciate you for going out and looking at yours. I cleaned up and double checked and yeah same leak spot. Just now did a final look around and its only coming from the bottom so unfortunately I need a new cylinder.

I looked for a rebuild kit.
    Nothing for 2005+ trucks.

There are a few for the 1st gen trucks. But that doesn't help you.

You know what, as soon as I posted above.
I had a though. The 4Runner might use the same system.
Quick search and I found this.

Now, we need to see if the parts are the same

Yea it would be nice if they serviced components of it but I can't find that they do even though they show a breakdown of it there are no individual part numbers.

Now if you could find out who manufactures it for Toyota maybe they show parts.

Looks like the pump is available separately (P/N: 4707060050) on the 4Runner but it's still over $750 for just the pump and accumulator and IDK if it's the same or not.

Found a full breakdown of the unit in the FSM but no part numbers, it does look like there's some cheaper alternative pumps out there but who knows what kind of quality they are.

On the hunt for the new part. Truck is a 2012 Access Cab V6 with TRD and tow package. Heres where I get confused?? There are 2 parts - the booster assembly and the master cylinder?? I assume they are similar right? VIN is 5TFUU4EN6CX036496

I'm very glad that my 3rd gen 4Runner is a 2000 with a vacuum master cylinder! 01-02 uses the similar system as my taco and many owners on the other forum have complained of the prices of these hydro masters.
