    Hello,

Recently purchased a 2010 Tacoma. Wondering what can be done about this? Is this cracked? Or just rust?
    Any information would help.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but you should have never bought that, even if they paid you to take it.

That is rust and it's really bad.

Yeah... agreeing with above. You probably should not have bought that vehicle. Been quite a few folks ending up in situations like this lately. More and more rusted out frames. Got more photos? It's usually suggested to take a ball peen hammer to the frame before purchased if it's looking questionable to see how bad it is. This picture... it looks really bad.

That frame has left chat.. It needs a new frame and who knows what else is rusted on it. If you can get a refund. that should not have been sold to you.

    midwest 'salt country' opinion.

if you got it for less than $2k, it's a decent deal. but the truck likely won't last more than a few winters.

    Damn, what a bummer.

    She’s a 2010 with 87,000km. Unfortunate

There was a relatively recent frame recall, that covered my 2015 which was completely re-done in 2019.

The window for his 2010 window closed sometime in 2022, if not earlier.

12 years from date of in service.

@skunker2024 I certainly hope you can get a refund.

If from a dealer, you may have reasonable legal remedy, depending on your state.

If you bought from an individual you are likely out of luck. Unless your state requires the seller to provide a clean inspection to transfer title. Which we have to assume here didn't happen. Or the inspector was Ray Charles.

My son's 2005 Tacoma had the frame replaced under the recall with far less rust than that.

Meso spare fuse holder. Aluminum gas cap holder. Genuine Toyota bed lights. Bed molle racks. Ammo case storage under hood. In-bed spare tire. Automatic underhood lights. Gooey glurp on frame.
That's a good-looking older frame, even by SW USA standards.
